My friend and I stayed at the Bali Spark Resort for 3 days. The hotel is not actually on the beach, but still has nice views of the water and the volcano. Also, my friend got his scuba certification with a SSI instructor named Philip. Philip was an excellent dive master and one could probably not ask for a more diligent/thorough person to learn from. So go Phil!

The food was well priced and most of the time pretty tasty.

However, the bad part about this hotel is that they do additional services with SHADY people. For instance, my friend and I booked a round trip ticket to the Gili Islands for 1.2 mil rupiah. This snaky looking guy comes to get us and lets us know its time to leave. As soon as he puts in our luggage in the car and we get in, he says "BIG BOSS CHANGED PRICE" and of course refused to go anywhere unless we gave him additional money. BS.

And then we get back to the hotel from the Gili islands, the same guy calls us and says we haven't finished paying for the trip even though we have a receipt. He tries weasel more money from us and we just decided to pack our bikes up and leave.

Short version, good hotel for scuba if Phil is there. Bad hotel for additional services outside of scuba.

Room Tip: Don't ask for cabs/trips to the Gili/other services outside of the hotel.

This hotel looks really good. Looks. It's not comfortable nor it is a nice place to stay in. The pool is the best thing. The breakfeast is ok.
We had the biggest apartment (for 5 persons) with 3 rooms. The mattress on the beds and on the couch was paperthin.
One room didn't have AC. Another one had the AC on 50°F, woke up bitten by ants in the middle of the night and had to finish her night on the couch. When I reported it to the manager, she laughed and said "ants are everywhere", then tried unsuccessfully to get rid a ant colony on her desk. Not what I expected.
The shower doors were broken, the bathroom door couldn't be locked.

And everything at this hotel was very expensive. It's better to go to Tulamben to have a good meal with a normal price.
They didn't take credit card and offered a poor rate for our euros.
I would NOT recommend this place. I give it a poor rating and not a terrible one only because we had worst hotels in Gili Islands.

Room Tip: Be so tired that the quality doesn't matter. And spend your time at the pool.

Very adequate spacious rooms, and clean. The staff are great, helpful and courteous. Only minutes away to the beach and local shops. It is nice and quiet and peaceful and excellent value.
A feedback note: it be nice if the rooms had an electric kettle to boil hot water for tea or coffee making.

I booked this resort through Agoda, however there were a few details on their website which were incorrect. The site said there was a private beach, however it would be quiet a hike to get there. It was not as close to the dive sites of Tulamben as it made out either. The rooms were largee and the pool was nice. Staff spoke very little English, which caused difficulties in booking dives. Their EFTPOS machine was not working (there had been no mention of this when I booked in), so I had to withdraw cash on my way to the airport. Breakfast was average.

We booked 1 x Deluxe Room and 1 x Std Room for a total of $US 85 per night through Agoda and were upgraded to 2 x Deluxe Rooms upon arrival for no extra cost. We were very pleased at the size and cleanliness of our rooms and the fantastic big pool that the hotel was built around. The staff were all very friendly and the Czeckoslavakian owner seemed like a nice bloke. There is a restaurant downstairs next to the busy road but a more pleasant sitting / dining area directly above it, where you can also order food, which has views out to the ocean.

If you are old with dodgey knees or you have very young children, then you shouldn't stay here, because all the rooms are upstairs (the stairs are steep and uncovered, therefore slippery when it rains) and there is a wide, covered walkway around the 1st floor rooms adjacent to the pool below, without any secure railing to prevent kids falling over it. But otherwise, provided you have your own transport (this is located a few klms out of town) then this is a good place to stay.

The rooms are spacious, but not so comfortable as you would expect. The furniture is in bad taste, pretentious (the lion-faced bathtube, the horrific chandelier...) and cleaning leaves much to be desired. In our room the toilet worked to hiccups and during the night I am sure I heard the sound of a rat in the ceiling. Don't believe about the private beaches. There are two small black-stone beaches down the hill in front of the hotel, but they are absolutely abandoned. We liked them so much because there were lot of corals. If the hotel provided to the guests the snorkels to see them it would be a great idea. In short, the hotel is located in a fantastic spot, in front of the sea and the volcano, the swimming pool is nice, the price is good, the managing terrible.
