We live in Chiang Mai, Thailand and during a recent trip back from Phitchit we detoured to Mae Sot to catch the new daily flight to Mawlamyine in Myanmar for a few days. As opposed to the new touristy Strand Hotel we choose to stay at the Cinderella Hotel…what a great choice! Not a very attractive building outside but the value is within! First the staff and especially M/s Nui were fantastic…they arranged all our sightseeing, Taxi’s, transfers, Tuk Tuks, recommended eateries and just made our stay hassle free. The very comfortable room itself was packed with free goodies and even a computer with WiFi, juices, toothbrushes, iron and board, obviously tea and coffee etc etc etc! Good a/c, balcony, bath robes…you name it they gave it! Their restaurant is very Burmese and the quality of food and selection could not be faulted. If it were necessary to make any observation the only thing that I would say is that the bathroom could do with a lick of paint and the bedroom should have more power outlets. Highly recommended and thanks to all the staff for a memorable stay.

Room Tip: Book early to avoid disappointment!

The best hotel we have stayed at on three trips to Myanmar. Delightfully eccentric with charming service and an unbelievable collection of Burmese artifacts and paintings etc. throughout the hotel. We had a huge room on the aecond floor with a balcony and complimentary everything!
Breakfast was great and wi-fi worked well.

They can also arrange good tours to the surrounding areas. All in all a fantastic experience!

What a fabulous surprise! The Cinderella hotel is fantastic. The staff are plentiful, helpful and very well trained in everything from customer service to IT!
The décor could be described as rather busy but interesting. The walls around the corridors have a variety of local and historical artefacts – puppets, musical instruments, brass panels. There is a book swap shelf in the reception area. There is also information about local attractions, day trips etc.
The rooms are large. We had one with 2 king single beds (Sapphire) which had a balcony (I think they all do) that looked out onto the front street. The bathroom is also large. In the room is a TV, stands for suitcases, 2 armchairs, a computer with desk (for him), a dressing table with mirror (for her), an ironing board and iron and a fridge (full size) stacked with soft drinks, juices, beers (Myanmar and several other brands), chips, nuts and other snacks.
As well as a thermos jug of hot water for tea and coffee making, there are lots of complimentary items which got replenished each day. As well as toiletry items, there were bottles of water, bottles/cans of juice, a plate of fresh fruits, coffee mix, cake/biscuits. The juice, fruit and cake items were different each of the three days of our stay.
We had clothes laundered and they came back the same day, in pristine condition and for a reasonable price.
The hotel restaurant is a separate building on the grounds behind the hotel where breakfast / dinner is served. There are several choices of Myanmar breakfasts as well as a Western option. We tried 3 different Myanmar breakfasts which consisted of: a rice / noodle dish, chicken soup, green tea, pawpaw and a banana, some delicious traditional sticky rice type sweet (slightly different each day) as well as brewed coffee. The dinners served here are also good and the beer is served cold.
This place is an absolute gem!

I was in Myanmar for 28 days in November and this was my favourite hotel - it made me smile.
it is not luxurious, probably 3* but the staff were very helpful, coming to the room in pairs with the young men wearing white gloves!
The rooms were very comfortable, all have i pads for the guests to use and I think they all have a little balcony.
The best bit is the free supply of yummy biscuits, good quality hot chocolate and a plate of fruit every day.
There were the usual niggles like the shower flooding the bathroom but the simple charm of the place made it easy to overlook these small things.

Room Tip: There is no lift so maybe a first floor room if you have difficulty using stairs.

We have a good sized corner room on the second floor with balcony (Emerald) and ironing board! Very comfortable and quiet room, the hotel staff are exceptional. This hotel is consistently highly recommended and with good reason, plenty of Asian visitors not just Western, but book ahead as invariably full. Food is OK but far from exceptional. As of 05/12/2013 an ATM has been installed at the entrance to the hotel.

PS just read a recent review from Singapore claiming discrimination against foreigners, ignore it, this person should not leave home.

Room Tip: Book ahead.

We really like light rooms. Our room had windows on 2 sides plus a balcony. Perhaps because of the relentless sun, many rooms in Myanmar are built with small windows or have heavy teak floors and are deliberately cast in shadow. With the airconditioner, we had the best of both worlds. The bathroom was fine and the food and service througout outstanding. We were barely checked in when a jug of boiling water was brought so we could make tea/coffee without waiting for our jug to boil. Compared with other rooms in Myanmar, this was the best value.

A wonderful hotel. The rooms are spotless and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They offer a big and very tasty complimentary breakfast in Their lovely diningnroom. In the rooms they provide complimentary water, coffee, and fruit. In the evening they even brought up a plate of fresh fruit for us to enjoy. In the lobby there are big guide books with photos of suggested itineraries, and a very secure locker for your personal valuables, should you choose to use it. The hotel is nicely docorated with interesting Burmese artifacts and is centrally located. EXCELLENT value for money. Highly recommend it.
