Subic International Hotel
Ranked #19 of 19 Hotels in Olongapo
Reviewed 19 March 2014

Stayed here last year when our friends invited us to Subic. They insisted on paying for our hotel and they chose this one so there was nothing we could do, it would've been rude to refuse. I didn't know how much their rates are until just now when I read some of the other reviews. I'm really surprised to find out it's in the 2.5-4K range. For that price, there are way better hotels in Subic. This one is not even worth it at 1-1.5K. Hell, if I wasn't worried about offending our friends, I wouldn't have stayed here even if it was for free.

It's one of the relics of Subic and it needs to be completely renovated or just shut down. It's the kind of place you'd expect to find in a ghost town - dark, old, musty, dank, tired, gloomy, dim, eerie, depressing. I've also learned from the other reviews that this place used to be a hospital?? That totally ups the creepy factor by about a thousand percent.

Probably the only positive thing about this place is the staff. It's obvious that they are doing their best to keep the place running. To be fair, the place was clean and seemingly well-maintained - everything ran properly, no leaks, no exposed wires, things weren't falling apart even though they're obviously very, very old, and there were no weird smells or anything like that. The restaurant staff, especially, were very friendly and accommodating. Oh, another positive (if it matters to you) is that it's very near the Harbor Point Mall. That being said, I still wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

We needed a budget hotel to stay overnight with a pool and near the malls. The closest was subic international hotel.
The good:
1. Prime location. Walking distance to harbourpoint ayala mall.
2. Fast checkin and checkout.
3. Friendly and courteous staff.
4. Budget. Deluxe starts at 2500 net with set breakfast in the bravo branch.
5. Pot of coffee only at P50. ( around a 1 usd) . Since i love coffee, this was important.
The not so good but not really bad ( if your not the icky type):
1. This was a hospital before. I couldn't help but think of what kind of cases were admitted at our room. Some infectious diseases? Im sure they cleaned up the place really good before transforming it to a hotel. I hope nobody died there but it wasn't really creepy.
2. It was so old. All the rooms needed to be refurbished badly . Again, we stayed in the bravo wing. The delta wing was not budget at all with rates starting at 4k a night.
3. The wifi was a ripoff at P500 for 24h and despite being expensive, it was so slow. Not good at all.
Overall, it was ok.

Heard stories that this hotel, both beta and delta building, were originally hospitals many years ago. Beta building, even if it's renovated, still has the hospital ambiance. From the layout of the frontdesk area, to the hallways and the room layout. The doors are quite heavy.

However, the delta buildings looks more modern(especially the lobby and the event hall) It also has a swimming pool and a large parking area. Room design is better and the blankets are thicker.

Location is great because both buildings are only a few blocks away from the Harbor Point Shopping Center

We were booked for a 3 day seminar in this hotel and me and my buddy stayed at room 111 of the Delta building. Compared to the older building, the Delta building is newer. It is no 5-star hotel by any measure but it wasn't bad nonetheless. Our room had two big beds and a smaller extra bed as we were supposed to be 3 inside the room. Surprisingly, the extra bed was still a comfy mattress type bed instead of a thinly padded cot or a slab of foam on the floor as what other hotels tend to provide. The TV was large and channel choices were abundant. There was no wet carpet smell. Our room had a fridge (with no contents) and a water boiler (but no complimentary tea or coffee). The bathroom was also clean and the tub was a welcome luxury at the end of a tiring day. Location-wise, it is near a casino and other entertainment spots but you better take a car to visit the popular shopping places like Puregold, Royal Duty Free, and American Hardware. There is no view to speak of when you look outside the window. However, I kinda like it as it reminds me of when Subic was actually a fully operational U.S. Military base. The room vault was also not working in our room. But that didn't really detract from the experience. :)

Of all the hotel buildings of this chain in Subic, the only one worth staying in is the Delta Building. The rest, don't even bother. Delta is not the cheapest in Subic, but is a decent place to stay. I would make this a last priority because of the price. The rooms are really starting to deteriorate. The coffee shop, where you can have a buffet merienda daily for cheap, is a wonderful place to go for meetings. Don't do it too often though, the buffet food hardly ever changes. With the great location and buildings they own, I wish they would upgrade the rooms in their other buildings, and keep the good ones from deteriorating.

I love most in this hotel is their food ;-) I've enjoyed my stay in this hotel, maybe it is already an old hotel but the rooms are still relaxing... walking distance from the hotel is a casino... well as for the hotel hope you will renovate the hotel in the near future. I will still love to stay there... you have a great location..
