Just came back from an extended weekend stay from the 21st to 25th Mar, superb service and friendly staff, very helpful and accommodating. Located right by the beach, just need to walk out to the beach itself. Breakfast menu is great !

Room Tip: Deluxe room is value for money

Stepping into the lobby at Aava Resort will immediately put you at ease with the "Open Air" concept Lobby and friendly staff greeting.

The walk to your room/bungalow will introduce you to a nice fusion of Thai and Euro-Asian design, within a few short steps from the beautiful Ocean or Aava's sparkling pool.

So why "just shy" of excellent?

The room... The room lay-out flows nicely and is just the perfect size for one person or a couple. It has a spa-like bathroom with a rain shower and plenty of hot water.

The bed is a bit on the small side for two people but would have been perfect for one, I think it was a double bed.

The main issue I had with the room is that the thin wall between the neighboring guest room allowed the 7:30 AM wake up call from their dogs yelping non stop- to wake me up from what would have been a near perfect sleep.

I think Aava needs to revisit their pet policy, unless of course the dog/puppy was not supposed to be there in the first place. Either way, the walls between room does allow for very clear conversation to be heard easily which is really a bummer because it's such a nice room and resort.

Otherwise....

They served what I consider an amazing breakfast that is included in the room, which is really a nice touch.

Aava Resort is an excellent choice for anyone who wants a wonderful beach getaway and especially nice for a couple.

I think they have rooms that are not connected and I would definitely ask for one of those for more privacy and a better sleep experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not share walls with a neighbor. If you are a larger sized couple, check to...

This was a really nice resort in a largely underdeveloped area which we liked. The rooms and grounds were lovely. There were a ton of kids there when we stayed, so you should be aware that it's not just a romantic spot. The beach was huge and mostly empty, and we found it much more enjoyable to swim in the ocean than in the pool. The pool was nice, but the area usually filled up really fast. We only ate here for breakfast and it was good. The staff was really nice and helpful in arranging transportation. Also, if you have any interest in renting a motorbike Khanom was the only place where it didn't feel like a death wish to do so. There were very few vehicles on the road, unlike the other places we went.

Room Tip: Some of the bigger ones face the pool, while many small ones are set back and have more privacy.

We have just returned from spending 10 nights at the resort. The weather was wonderful, and a great place to relax and unwind. The bungalows are as described, but could do with a few finishing touches, especially in the bathroom. The restaurant at the resort had a large menu with dishes to caterer for everyone and every dish was always presented to a very high standard. The only issue is that wine is very expensive for unknown brands, ie £2400 bart for a bottle of unknown new Zealand sauvignon blanc. We went on a full day Pink Dolphin tour with JJ the tour guide. Following this trip we signed up and went on a full day fishing and snorkelling trip. It is worth doing the trips just to spend the day with JJ. He makes sure everyone has a great time, and will go that extra mile for this.
The resort needs to keep on top of the small maintenance issues or there could be problems in the future.
Nothing was too much trouble for the resort staff as any problems were sorted immediately. We found the bed very hard, but as soon as we requested a mattress topper it came to our room, and like wise with the DVD player.
At the time of our visit the resort was very busy, and there were times when there were insufficient sunbeds and parasols available. There needs to be some parasols available on the beach as when the sun is out it is very hot and there is limited shade.
Overall we had a lovely time and will definitely be going back for another visit.

My husband and I stayed here for a week over new year with our 2 children aged 3 & 1. Our initial impression of the hotel was 'wow' and our superior room was nicely decorated. The communal areas are lovely, very modern and clean. The room on further inspection could do we a little bit of maintenance.... Whilst very clean there were a few little things that need to be finished off properly to give it a truly luxurious feel. (Eg the sealing around the bath was unfinished, the sink was too shallow so water went everywhere and it was hard to shave and there weren't enough plug sockets in the room - minor I know but little things that would make it feel more 5 star). The pool was always clean and the children loved the kids pool. There were toys around the pool for the kids to play with - a nice touch! The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble and they were fab with the kids. Breakfast was excellent and the selection was good. We had lunch and dinner here a few times and the food was of a very high standard. It is more expensive than cc bar but that is to be expected. If you want a cheaper meal then I'd recommend CC bar. Come out of the hotel onto the beach, turn left and walk about 200m. I had several massages here too which were fantastic. I didn't use the spa in the hotel so I unable to compare but it looked lovely.
We had the best day out with JJ who runs the tours.... We went to the cave, fish spa and waterfall. It was such a great day and was so nice to see some of the local area. I'd definitely recommend it for adults and older children but if you have young children as we did, just be mindful that there is a lot of climbing in the cave and up to the waterfall. That being said, our kids LOVED the adventure! The beach is beautiful but there is a lot of rubbish on the beach although That is possibly due to the rough sea conditions when we were there. This hotel is perfect for a relaxing break but don't expect many shops/restaurants/bars etc. we went into khanom town one night and had a nice meal in a local restaurant but it is still very undeveloped. All in all, we loved it here and so did the kids. Everyone was so friendly and it was a great place to unwind and recharge!

The Aava is a great place to relax and unwind. All the rooms are lovely we stayed in a superior room which is bigger than the standard rooms and has a private garden area to relax in. We also stayed in a poolside villa which as the name suggests backs straight onto the lovely pool - steps from your private patio straight into the pool! Recommended. Every member of staff we met was wonderful. A special mention for JJ who runs the tours, we had two great days with him, I hope he sees this review. My wife and I were sad to leave as we will miss everybody, we had a wonderful holiday. I wish the Aava every success they deserve it.
