Rachaphruk Grand Hotel
Ranked #37 of 53 Hotels in Nakhon Ratchasima

There is an extensive Thai and Western breakfast.
The rooms are good and look clean.
The service is friendly.
Is is near downtown.
And not to far to The Mall shopping centre and a Big C supermarket is nearby.
Only a big minus is the Hotel swimming pool.
It is not cleaned.
The comment of the front desk is sorry no one is to much interested in swimming.
So we stopped the cleaning of the pool.

Room Tip: The rooms give a good view over the city. Both the front and to the rear rooms have a good view

Stayed in a suite. Room very spacious including a well appointed bathroom and changing area. One SLIGHT fault was the choice of TV channels. The card said there were foreign channels, but there were none. Breakfast was ok with the standard fare on offer.

I stayed here primarily to do a day trip to Phimai Historical Park and then to move on to visit the archaeological sites of Prasat Muangtam and Phanom Rung. The hotel is an easy 1km walk from the Bus Terminal and the old City Gates/city centre. Hence, a good base for day tripping.

The rooms are fairly large though dated and worn. The staff is friendly and most helpful, though few of them speak English.

What I loved best but was unanticipated was the food. The restaurant serves good Isan & general Thai food. The breakfast buffet would drive those who love Thai and Isan cuisine crazy. The lunch/dinner a la menu contains a wide range with very reasonable prices (75 bahts for a main dish) but you would find most diners having the 150b buffet during lunch. This buffet is amazing - a very attractive and wide spread of all sorts of Isan and Thai specialties, and all prepared well and authentically.

Stay somewhere else if you want the best modern comforts but come over for the fantastic lunch buffet.

I obviously had a freshly refurbished room with a great view over the city from an upper floor. Everything was dandy and the price. The room was 5 stars, the breakfast almost not worth going to, as selection was meager and geared towards their local clientele. Ask for a top floor room if you choose to lodge here.

The rooms at this hotel are 1200thb for standard room and its too much to pay. Its a really old hotel with foul smelling rooms. There was a small gas smell in my room. There is only central air con and thus maybe it was coming through that.

The reception staff dont speak English and are too incompetent to fix the broken wifi- if it has even worked all year.

There has got to be a better hotel than this place?

As other reviewers have said, good big airy rooms with views over the town. Bigger than average bathrooms. Super location. A few little things would go a long way like new silicon around the bath, ripped chair in room, better to remove it. Maybe even give the carpets a clean. Breakfast big choice but European / American offering not great. Overall would stay again as great value at £33 a night. Oh and really good new coffee shop to be found on right at entrance to rear carpark.

Opened with great fanfare in the nineties, the Rachaphruk continues to provide good accommodation at very good prices. The rooms are showing their age and need sprucing up but they are comfortable and the service staff are great. I have stayed there a number of times over the past few years and love their firm beds. Breakfast is buffet and the variety there for both Asian and others. The location is fab, being on the main highway and within walking distance to the old bus station (Bor Kor Sor) the IT Centre (the Old North-EastShopping Centre), Big C, Klang Plaza Shopping Centre, the Suranaree Monument and park etc. It's only a five minute ride to The Mall- the biggest in Thailand, the new Bus Station (Bor Kor Sor 2), St Marys Hospital etc. Well worth a visit. No longer THE hotel of Korat, it still is good value.
