Recently spent 5 nights at Freedomland as part of a holiday in Vietnam, it was the absolute highlight of our trip. Fantastic bungalows, very clean, great little details (including the coconut shell showers!). Peter and Rita are great, with really helpful advice on what to do on the island. However, the best bit about the place is the food and communal dinners. Sitting as a group around the long outdoor table eating the best (and most) food we had in Vietnam was amazing, met some great people and had a really good time every night. Thanks very much Peter and Rita, hopefully we will be back! Andy & Anna

Not only was I in paradise, but Freedomland made me feel like I was home! Rita and Peter, you two could be the most lovely people I have ever come into contact with! You run such a fabulous gig...from the amazing clean bungalows to the most delicious communal dinners! And you know I was huge fan of the "freedomlanders" and your "caipirinhas." Great sevice, great price, great vibes...I fell in love the second I walked in! Freedomland, I thank you for introducing me to great new friends and giving me an unforgettable experience...I will be back! Now my biggest issue is, how is any place ever going to live up to you!

Freedomland is about 30 minutes from the airport and some road ways around the island are still not made, and can cause time delays(costs around 120,000 vnd). it's about a 10-15 minutes walk from ong lang beach, which is almost deserted and a lovely place to take a walk and enjoy the sun.
it's not on the main tourist beach (long beach), which is one of the most appealing things about Freedomland; it's secluded and very peaceful.

We stayed at freedomland for 4 nights in the sunset bungalow.
Rita and Peter are the warmest and most accommodating hosts and will make sure you have a fantastic stay. you can hire a bicycle or a motorbike and go exploring, and they can also arrange tours where you are picked up and dropped off by your guide. we took a boat tour, which i highly recommend. we also trekked to the top of one of the waterfalls, a must see if you have the time. Breakfast menu is served til afternooon, so no need to get up early.

The food at Freedomland, as everyone has said, is to die for- and for the quality, it comes at a very good price (150,000vnd most nights). Peter will make sure you eat much more than you can handle!! if you would prefer to eat out in town, you just have to let them know, but you're more likely to get your money's worth by eating with the rest of the friendly visitors. I also recommend the freedomlander, their very own scumptious cocktail invention.

overall i would definitely recommend to anyone wanting relaxation time in a serene and beautifully undistirbed environment. grab a hammock and a book, and you won't want to move for hours! (just watch out for the occasional friendly frog crossing your path!)
could easily spend a lot longer here!

Believe the hype. Freedomland exceeded our expectations and even traveling with a 4 and 1-yr old we were made to feel at home. Peter and Rita are awesome hosts and go that extra step to make your stay a memorable experience. The food...well... as the others have already said...save room! I have detailed pictures here on our blog: http://adventuresinmacow.blogspot.com/

About 25 mins from airport , off the main road to the northwest. Eight purpose built thatched character "huts" with balconies , in private retreat type setting, surrounded by bush . More of a homestay, run by a lovely young couple who speak very good english and prepared to help in any event. Well reknowned for their superb cooking and evening dinner around a large table with guests, at the end of busy days on scooters or relaxing in a hammock. Drinks and breakfasts served on relaxing, raised communal area ,in japanese style ,of cushions and low table. Full every night we were there with our large family including a baby, 4 and 6yr old, but maintaining privacy.
Good staff with high standard of cleanliness ,a relief and pleasure to find at this level .
Well positioned to take modern motorbikes ( available on the doorstep) to many good places on the island, waterfalls, especially up northwest coast with lovely beaches free of sea lice which we found spoilt swimming on Long Beach.
Highly recommended for friendly, relaxing family or romantic, budget stay and food lovers.
