We had three nights at the Bamboo Cottage and it was perfect. Although we didn't have the best weather, Charles (the manager) and his staff made our stay relaxing and with all the hospitality and good food you could hope for! Thanks for everything!!!

We have stayed at bamboo cottages for 3 nights in May. We left with mixed feelings, this is why:

The airport pickup was well organised and the welkom was warm and inviting. The staf was very friendly and we got a good explanation of the place.

The seafront cottage was spacious and looked nice but could have been cleaner. It looked like it had been cleaned a while back. There where little ants in the bed during the fist night and becouse there was only a battery-driven fan it was really hot. The last day the room hasn't been cleaned wich was a bit odd. The time that there is electricity is very limited, they are clear about this but we really missed a good fan at night.

We asked for the possibly to do a snorkeling trip. We confirmed that we would like to have the trip they offered and set our alarm for the next morning. When we were waiting at the set time, no boat came to pick us up. We asked and the manager (not the one we booked the trip with) told us the boat should arrive soon. After a longer wait he came and told us that the sea was too rough for the boat to reach us (the sea looked perfectly calm, but what do we know). He offers us a kajak for free so we could go snorkeling by ourselves. Okay, that was weird... A big boat can't pick us up because of the rough see, but we can go kayaking, and when we dit we saw a snorkeling boat who came at the same place where we were kayaking to! And after this this boat wen't to a place next to the bamboo cottages.
We think they forgot to book it or the boat was not full enough... It was quite dissapointing because this was the main reason to go to Phu Quoc.

The prices for drinks are really too high. We paid 35.000 vnd for a un cooled can of beer. They gave a glass of ice with it but we think this is too expensive for a beer in Vietnam (had been paying 20.000 max for a big bottle so far). The food is good but a very limited menu for such a remote place. Breakfast was great, absolutely tasty!
The taxi back was also a bit weird, we were driven back to town by the bamboo cottages car wich we shared with a manager and his boss. Still we had to pay 2/3 of the price of the fare for a cab right.

The location is really nice, right at the beach, remote and absolutly relaxing. The commen area looks great, and the scenery is very pretty.

So, ups and downs but we did enjoy ourselfs at this place.

My wife and I visited in April 2014 and we had arrived at the perfect time: sundown over the ocean, the seafood buffet grill was just heating up and we had escaped the noise of Vietnam. The beach is delightful. Soft golden white sand that drops away evenly and didn't have stones or anything on the bottom. We swam after the BBQ in beautiful phosphorescence that was like looking at the galaxy, but in the ocean around you.
The first thing we noticed on arrival was the raised herb gardens - they grow their own fresh herbs. Great! The second thing is the rustic charm of the place. Awesome little trinkets everywhere. The cottages are not going to be to everyones taste, but you are reading this because you are not everyone. Guests were a mixed bag of many nationalities which is good. Staff were bend-over-backwards helpful and nice.
I enjoyed being at Bamboo and i would recommend you check it out - minimum 4 days, because if your trip was short like ours you will feel cheated when you get to the airport that you didn't stay longer.

Room Tip: Wooden sided bungalows are the cutest

My husband and I spent 7 nights in this wonderful, secluded and peaceful place which lived up to and exceeded all our expectations. It is not the place to go if you want a wild night life, lots of noise, lots of people, bars and partying until the early hours. However it is most definitely the place to go if you need to be nurtured and you want to relax in gorgeous surroundings and be taken care of by a team of wonderful staff. The perfect place to cut yourself off from the world. The details they give on their website are extremely accurate as they don't supply 24 hour electricity and constant contact through the internet - so if you want that just don't go. We thought it was great that the internet was not on during mealtimes. We just wish we go every year to recharge our batteries. We return home ready to deal with life!! Staff, accommodation and food all just marvellous - Thank you Bamboo Cottages for the holiday of a life time!

Room Tip: We had the Woodhouse which we loved but the other rooms looked lovely too. Just 15 steps to the wat...

Me and my wife spent 4 nights in March there. Yes, it is a Lonely Place! Deserted beach and all that. Just remember that a few days without a scooter might get a little boring there. Unless you have an interesting book, you want to have a peaceful rest and you don't mind paying a lot (by local standards) for adapted lunch and dinner at the hotel.
We were living in Woodhouse. An amazing experience on the sea shore. Electricity works only at certain times, there's no need for air conditionioning because it is quite windy. Sometimes we would wake up from waves smashing or a passing fisherman's ship. On one occasion, I saw a monkey while I was driving through a gravel road in a forest on my scooter. All in all, I recommend it.
