This place is acceptable no more and no less. We knew Phu Quoc is more expensive than the rest of Vietnam and this place proved that. The rooms further away from the beach are the least renovated and worth avoiding. The rooms close to the beach are quite nice though. Definitely bargain hard here.

The people were really unfriendly and they were unable to speak English. We didn't have any water in the room, so we couldn't even take a shower. The motorbike we rent didn't have any fuel, so we almost had to walk the first part. The food at the restaurant was not good either, the place is lovely, but the curry was really sweet (!!) and the springrolls didn't taste like they should have done! So we would not recommend this place at all!!

We booked a Family Garden Bungalow with Fan for our 3 days stay at Nhat Lan Resort. The room was clean and spacious with nice decoration. It was just relaxing to sit back on the front porch, and enjoy the sea breeze with the whispering waves from afar.

Beachside restaurant serves delicious food with reasonable price. Staff was helpful and friendly enough to make your vacation become unforgettable.

Room Tip: It was windy so a bungalow garden/ocean view with fan is perfect

As good as the food is and as beautiful a location as this is, the hotel staff are colluding together to steal anything that isn't secure. We were warned by someone who was staying there that they had had their wallet stolen from a locked room. We put it down to bad luck, a mistake or thinking that you shouldn't leave your money in your room.

However, like other reviews, we found that the cleaning staff wait for you to leave the room. We were staying with a friend and noticed staff trying to get into her room when she had left. When asked what they were doing they said "checking air conditioning". When we said her room was a fan room, they said "must check air con though". They went in, glanced at the a/c unit that wasn't in use and left without doing anything. Later the reception staff said they were "checking the electrics". If I was naive I'd say it was the worst electrician I'd ever seen.

Essentially the reception staff give keys to rooms for other staff to wait for guests to leave the room and then steal. Don't stay here, it's not worth it. We were lucky we had all our stuff by the time we left.

We found this place by total chance, was expecting the island to be quite expensive but we were actually very positively surprised. A double bungalow with fan and private bathroom goes for 15$ per night, the restaurant is quite reasonably priced too, about 1$ for a bottle of beer, 1,5$ for a plate of fried rice with meat and 7$ for a BBQ whole red snapper. The place is really really nice, private beach, free lounge chairs and lounge beds. We rented a scooter for 3$, usefull to get to the town for market and local attractions. From the beach several other bars and restaurants are accessible so if you just want to relax there is no need for scooter. Really nice thing is that this beach has no acquascooters or noisy motorboats.

Stayed here for 3 nights in a hotelroom with a doublebed with my partner in mid-March 2013, and we would have stayed longer if it wasn't for the following incidents:

Cons:

- The air condition was sub-par, and I'm not exaggerating when I'm saying it would take a good hour to notice any cool or freshness in the room after getting it going.
- Room didn't have Wi-fi, had to go down to the reception to go online.
- Nhat Lan had a power-generator that kept failing and this could happen at any time of the day or night, so when it went out you had no hot water or AC for an unknown period of time,
- The rooms were cleaned daily, but when the staff finished your room they would leave the key in the lock in the outside if the door.. Which still baffles me!
- The main reason we left, the last drop, was when a man entered our room without knocking, while my girlfriend was lying on the bed, not dressed, and reading. As we had read in TripAdvisor earlier that people had been robbed at this hotel before we decided to pack our things and find something else, because things started to look fishy. We confronted the staff at the reception about it and they told us it was an electrician who was on his way to fix the air condition unit. Sure, it may have been, but they should have told us about it on beforehand.
- Ants and Mosquitos were spotted over the entire room, not a deal breaker, but definitely not a plus.

Pros:

+ Hotel is located around 20 meters from the beach!
+ The bathroom was new, had all sorts of accessories (comb, shampoo, toothbrush etc) and when the generator worked, the hot water lasted a long time.
+ Price was good for its location, got the price down to 25$ from 30$ so there's room for bargaining.

We stayed here for 11 days in a Bungalow with fan no AC. The Bungalow was simple no luxury, the bed was a little to hard. But they cleaned every day and were helpful and friendly. There are free WiFi that works ok. The restaurant at the beach serves great food for any occasion. The location is the best of Long Beach and its easy to get a cab if you want to go to the small town Duong Dong else you can rent a Moto for 5$ a day. Its a great stay for budget travelers.
