The resort is far and secluded so for us it was Perfect but if you travel alone maybe you'll prefer a place not that far from the city.
The best part was the beach and after strolling along it, this resort has the best part. The food was uninspiring and we prefer eating in the next resort. The beer was warm due the luck of refrigerator. We were afraid that the restaurant will be super expansive due to the location but we we're surprise and you can find dishes in 40k VAD. the service was very helpful but most of the stuff spoke very few words in English. The wi fi didn't work all the time and it was really not comfortable. The Rooms were big and nice.
Important tip: because the resort is very far a way from the city, the taxi is very expansive. call the resort and ask for a pic up. They willing to do so if you going to stay for a long period, 4 days and more.

As many have written, this resort is a bit out of the way - a 20-30 minute drive from the island capital of Duong Dong and 45 minutes from the new international airport. Some of the road is a dirt sand track, so is a bumpy drive. There is no public transport to the resort so you have to rely on taxis (400,000 dong one way to Duong Dong) or motorbike/scooter rental (200,000 a day from the resort). We rented a scooter, but ended up falling over twice in the very sandy part of the roads so gave up and went back to the sort.

However, I was aware of the remoteness etc and was quite happy to get away from it all. The resort has its own private beach with sunloungers and umbrellas. The staff keep the beach incredibly clean and the water is clear, warm and lovely to swim in. The restaurant is open-air and overlooks the beach. The staff were incredibly friendly. The menu is extensive and all the food was delicious. The fruit shakes were really good. I particularly recommend trying the Vietnamese hotpot which you cook yourself on the table. In terms of activities, the pace is slow and relaxing. As well as swimming and sunbathing, there is also kayaking and I believe the resort offers fishing and hiking trips, although we didn't do them. There is wifi at the resort, although it's intermittent. It was ok at the restaurant, but weak in the bungalow - I usually had to sit on the veranda to get reception.

The bungalows are fairly basic, but comfortable. They include beds, mosquito nets, wardrobe, table and chairs, ensuite bathroom (wet room style shower) and private veranda with sunloungers. We had two double beds with lovely sea views across the garden.

For guests staying longer, they offer a free pickup service from the airport. Breakfast was also included in the room price. Bamboo Resort - a five minute walk next door - offer massage for $25.

We stayed here for four noights. The beach was beautiful. The staff very friendly and service minded. The room clean. The bathroom outside so we hade eight-legged visitors several times (Huntmen's spiders). We wanted a nice quiet place but unfortunately the hotel had bus loads of visitors during the day taking over the beach. Maybe this because it was during Têt (Vietnamese New Year). Also the hotel shut off the electricity during the day so if you stayed in your room, no AC, no possibility to charge your phone. Also this hotel is very remote. They charge you quite a lot to go into town and the road is really bad if you are thinking of taking a motorbike. We did rent a motorbike ( 200 000 VND) through the hotel. But there is no lights in that part of the island in the evening so be careful.

If your looking for a place with:
I quieted place with almost non tourist and a "private" beach, by yourself, you have come to the right place.

Beach:
-Not so crowded, maximum when I was their around 20 people.
- 3-4km beach, if you want to have more privacy, or have a nice morning/evening walk.
-White sand, sea has light blue colour
- Beautiful sunset
- If you want to have massage you can find it 5 minutes walk to the next place called Bamboo or cheaper option Mai Phoung. This means also that their no local people on the beach that's asking if you want to have massage every 5min or fruits.

I have seen Long Beach and other beaches up north, after my opinion, this is the best freedom beach.

Service:
- Helpfull staff
- Flexible
- Observing
- Good to English
- Can help you book bus/train/flight ticket and hotel.

Room/Bungalow:
New from 2011 or something.
It is one of the cheapest Resorts at the spot where you want to have some privacy.
Their are cheaper option as Mai Phoung, but if you just give 10$ more you get more value for money, and got the beach almost in front of your Bungalow.
- Balcony
- Hard beds
- Clean room everyday, new towels and water including.
- No Wi-fi in the rooms, but they have it in public areas. Hopefully it will arrive soon in the rooms aswell.

Restaurant:
Good and a lot to try if you are at the same place for two weeks, it means theirs a lot to choose.
- Big Portions
- You can get a meal for max. 200.000vn.
- Very good service
- Excellent breakfast (including in the price, and comparing to other places that I have been to). It's not a buffe, but you can choice more then one dish.

I will definitely give the staff and resort 4 stars, the one star that's missing is because of it is under construction and not finished jet and also just a small details around.

We were here with my husband on our second stay in Phu Quoc. Also four of our friends joined us for 5 nights in the same resort. If you want peace and serenity in Phu Quoc - go here! The resort is new but it has everything you need: amazing beach, cheap rooms and nice atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and you'll feel welcome. They are still building some cottages, but the noise didn't disturb us although we had hungover in couple of mornings. Location is very far (45 minutes from the city) but if you want a beatiful beach cottage with peace that's the price you need to pay in Phu Quoc.

I would recommed everyone going to Phu Quoc spend half of your vacation either here (budjet friendly) or at the next resort (Bamboo Cottages - more expensive, but very nice, By the way: go here atleast for a lunch!). And a few nights in Dong Duong.

Room Tip: you don't need AC. Fan is just enough.

I'm writing this review under the stars during the second night of my stay here. We were initially reticent about booking here, for there hadn't been any reviews posted yet. There was no need to hesitate: this is a wonderful place.

Located about 45 minutes north of the concentration of resorts on Long Beach, Vung Bao is a serene locale. The bungalows are clean, the food delicious and the staff delightful.

But for those of you looking to be pampered in a Western-style, 5-star resort, this is not the place for you. It's a phenomenal spot though for those looking to enjoy a smattering of Vietnamese life in a bit of paradise.
