“Not what I expected!”

Room pictures from the hotel website are much better. The whole building and rooms look like they were built from the 60's. the mattress was so hard, you can feel every coil inside the mattress. The free basket of fruits we received on the first day was terrible. Fruits were too riped and ants were crawling in the basket. The breakfast buffet was nothing special. Same kind of food were served everyday.
The front desk service is nothing to brag about with an exception of the Tour Desk. One of the tour desk representatives, her name is "Ca^.y", is very helpful and gave us many unbiased advices on where to go and what to do on the Island. She also has a lot of insider information to share as a long time Phu Quoc resident. Another bonus that i was looking forward everyday is seeing her beautiful smile every morning passing by her desk on the way to breakfast.

We wanted to say in this hotel for a week and we booked it in advance but we checked out after two days. It was terrible. Everything is dirty in this hotel. It stinks. Water in the swimming pool is slimy, it smells terrible. My children wanted to swim in the swimming pool and they got out in few minutes saying the water was sour and then nobody wanted to enter the swimming pool ever. We were the only guest by the pool anyway - later on we realized why. Food was no good, restarurant was dirty, tables were dirty. The room was poorly furnished, the terrase was awful with leaking AC. The shower was horrible - you feel dirty even after showering. After two days of this horror we moved to the neighbouring hotel.

This resort is in a great spot but when we arrived for a 3 night stay the couple we were travelling with, were offered an upgrade to a villa while we had to sit and wait 2 hours for our room to become available. Staff were not the least bit interested in us.
Breakfast was average and again staff were not interested in guests or attending tables.
We made good use of the pool (the beach had too much rubbish floating in it), our rooms were comfortable, and the free airport transfers were a bonus but overall I could not recommend this place.

We stayed here for three nights and were very disappointed with the level of service by staff. Given the wonderful hospitality in most places in Vietnam, we were surprised how lacking the quality of service was. It was low season but the reception staff did appear to have a very basic level of training. This was typical of all the service we received. There are fabulous facilities at this hotel but it is hard to find staff willing to assist you particularly at the beautiful pool, pool bar and beach bar. The private beach was strewn with litter as were the waves as they came in. I would not return to this hotel if I went back to Phu Quoc

We stayed here for four nights. We were collected from the new Phu Quoc International Airport in the hotel's mini-bus, this is a free service, brilliant. The reception area is a bit dated and in need of some TLC, but who spends their holiday in reception?! Our room was a small villa with a balcony right next to the pool and a few metres from the beach - perfect. It wasn't fancy by any stretch, but clean and serviced well every day. The pool area is vast and for the whole four days we were basically the only people there. There are sun loungers on the beach and there are no hawkers or anyone else to hassle you if that's where you prefer to relax. We walked along the beach for lunch, which was lovely. The hotel is well placed, a couple of minutes walk will get you to good restaurants and bars that are very cheap. All in all it's a good place to stay and you will certainly feel as if you've had a holiday.

We stayed at Blue Laggoon for a week. We had not booked transfers when we arrived at the airport but as soon as the sasco taxi rep knew we were booked into the hotel, we were ushered into the cab for a free ride!

We arrived at the hotel, reception is drab, dated and overfilled with badly covered stained couches. The staff could not have been less interested to see us (a common theme thorough out stay with a only a couple of exceptions)... We checked in.. Were taken to our room, perfect spot between pool & beach!

We tried the restaurant - okay but the extra steps to one of the restaurants across the road will see you spend less, not have ur drinks watered down and enjoy better food! The staff are also much more attentive/friendly/helpful!!

With all the reports regarding the pool - we were concerned. We braved it anyway - it's not a fancy pool by any means but there were no issues for us. We liked the pool. It's not tiled, maybe vinyl or something similar so there's some parts where it's crinkled at the bottom but not an issue.

We had a standard room with a porch. Rooms are a bit dated but totally fine! Comfortable, clean, flat screen tv, good aircon. There's lots of them so ask for near the beach if not paying extra for beach front!

The beach is beautiful at the hotel. Coconut palms all along so plenty of shade for those who prefer it, umbrellas, heaps of sun lounges! Perfect!! (For true postcard beach make sure you go to Sao beach too).

Overall - the staff in the restaurant and reception are rude, unhelpful and clearly have no idea what 'hospitality' means (with exception of one of the girls in the restaurant). The cleaners, gardeners, security and the bell boys/drivers are lovely! Blue Laggoon is on a nice stretch of beach, is a 10 minute walk to the night market in town for delicious dinners and shopping for cheaps pearls. It has nice gardens, decent pool, decent rooms and I would reccommend it. Phu Quoc will one day be a Koh Samui/phuket but for now - less competition - less bang for your buck accom wise. In terms of peace, relaxation and beautiful (almost) tout free beaches?? Phu quoc wins hands down!
