“A wonderful place to get away ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2014 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here for three nights, with our three year old daughter. Despite the warnings from Lonely Planet, our friendly, genial host Khoa spoke good English.

We came from Can Tho via taxi (not cheap but convenient) and Khoa met us at the ferry. We had booked through our previous hotel and Khoa called them (and our taxi driver!) to confirm all the arrangements.

The room itself was bright and spacious (we stayed out the back in the bungalow) and the gardens were beautiful. Leave yourself some time to just laze around in the hammocks!

We arranged a tour through the homestay to the nearby floating markets and other sights. The tour was fun, my only reservation that our extremely reticent guide spoke no English. In fact, he hardly spoke at all! The honey factory and candy factory we visited had English speaking staff, so it wasn't a great loss.

(Girls; if you go out of the homestay and turn left, just down the road on the right is an extremely cheap beautician. No English, pretty basic, but oh so cheap! And the ladies are lovely.)

What made this homestay outstanding value was the sensational dinner that was included in the price ($15 pp per night). Each night was different and delicious, and included steamed fish, beef with noodles, prawns and pork. We didn't come close to finishing it all.

I'd really recommend staying at this place to get away from it all and unwind.

And to finish, Khoa organised our onward journey to HCMC. We lay around in hammocks until the clean, modern mini bus beeped at the front gate. Too easy!

The homestay is good, and for me, travelling alone, it was cheaper than expected (i had a smaller room next to the family) and breakfast and dinner are included. And dinner is great, with several courses, i could never finish it all! If you want you can ask for fresh fruit from the garden. You can take the time to lay in the hammock or just get a bicycle to go explore the island (go on the small roads next to the canals, it's truly beautiful). I had a really good time in this homestay and they helped me arrange a boat trip to Cai Bê floating market and the bus to Saigon (it stops in front of the house!).

Before you come here, you have to manage expectations a little bit. First of all, this homestay is more a family hotel with several room and restaurant. But that's the kind of homestay you're most likely to find often in Vietnam. Do not expect yourself dining alone with the family and the children.

But it is worth of coming! The family is really customer oriented and friendly, Englisg speaking, providing a very good service.

The place is a bit lost in the Mekong delta, but that's what is it about. The ferry is cheap and you can explore the beautiful countyside or just chill out in the hammock. You are not isolated, since the ferry to Vinh long is very cheap and there is a local bus to Ho Chi Minh.

The rooms and bathrooms are nothing spectacular, but still meeting all requirements of a budget traveller.

Price is a bit higher, but huge tasty dinner (several courses) and very good breakfast are included, as well as the bike rental, so finally the rate is more than justified.

Simply great culinary experience in the middle of the delta!
