My husband and I stayed here for three nights, with our three year old daughter. Despite the warnings from Lonely Planet, our friendly, genial host Khoa spoke good English.
We came from Can Tho via taxi (not cheap but convenient) and Khoa met us at the ferry. We had booked through our previous hotel and Khoa called them (and our taxi driver!) to confirm all the arrangements.
The room itself was bright and spacious (we stayed out the back in the bungalow) and the gardens were beautiful. Leave yourself some time to just laze around in the hammocks!
We arranged a tour through the homestay to the nearby floating markets and other sights. The tour was fun, my only reservation that our extremely reticent guide spoke no English. In fact, he hardly spoke at all! The honey factory and candy factory we visited had English speaking staff, so it wasn't a great loss.
(Girls; if you go out of the homestay and turn left, just down the road on the right is an extremely cheap beautician. No English, pretty basic, but oh so cheap! And the ladies are lovely.)
What made this homestay outstanding value was the sensational dinner that was included in the price ($15 pp per night). Each night was different and delicious, and included steamed fish, beef with noodles, prawns and pork. We didn't come close to finishing it all.
I'd really recommend staying at this place to get away from it all and unwind.
And to finish, Khoa organised our onward journey to HCMC. We lay around in hammocks until the clean, modern mini bus beeped at the front gate. Too easy!
