This hotel is located high above the Punakha valley with a fantastic view. The hotel is well furnished and absolutely new. All rooms have balconies. However, the lobby, rooms, spa, restaurant, parking area are all on different levels (one should be prepared to climb up and down stairs as there is no automated solution). The food quality is a bit erratic, some of the dishes are very good but some just okay. One should try to go for an early breakfast or a cup of tea and sit outside the restaurant on the deck for a lovely experience.
The service is still settling down and if guests have any issues they should take them up with Baljit Singh, the GM who resides on the premises and is making a great effort to make the hotel a success (I did that and found him very responsive). My sense is that the hotel should settle down over a period of time and if one is fine with the structural issue of different levels it is a place worth going to. The nunnery, about 15 minutes walk uphill is a delight to visit and an added attraction. The hotel provides a free mini bar in the room and free wi fi connectivity which are good attempts to mitigate the structural issue of multiple levels.

Room Tip: Choose a mid valley view room. If you have a problem with climbing stairs check with management for appropriate rooms.

Dhensa is newly opened hotel almost 7-8 months ago.Hotel is located on mountains and offers spectacular views. The backdrop of mountains were stunning and it was absolute calmness sitting outside your room in the balcony, breathing in nature.

The rooms are very spacious equipped with modern amenities. Their is good connectivity of free wifi in rooms and they offers free usage of mini bar which is very rare.

We stayed only for a day but surely this property was a place where one can spend 2-3 days and enjoy the peace, fresh air and calmness of Bhutan

Food was good but we were not happy on the variety of food offered in Breakfast. We travelled with makemytrip and I am not sure if the menu was restricted or what. But I personally feel breakfast should have options of eggs and bread as you can't expect anyone to eat chana dal in breakfast with plain paratha.this was one drawback and I think management should look into it as it adds bitterness to the overall experience.

Room Tip: Choose the room at M level. We stayed in room no 11 and it offers magnificent views from room balconies and it's very close to dining area as well.

One of the best locations. Try and get rooms at M Level. Fantastic views fron these huge rooms. Free mini bar is helpful since every where you need to climb steps. Warning..not a place for people with bad knees. A place where you come and relax. Staff cordial. Some policies are odd. For example break fast has eggs on it but if you ordrr ommlette it is charged! No buffet even for breakfast and hence lot of things get added to your bill unnecesssrily. Feeling you get is that they are there to loot you. Food is average. We ordered a prawns dish and sent it back as it was too salty. They still charged it and the chef did not bother to come out. Spa very expensive. Too many mosquitoes and flies. Carry mosquoto repellants. Interior designing is superb. General manager was on rounds and terrified the staff but he needs to be more hands on with the guests. Great potential to be a great resort.

Dear Shreedhar A.

Thank you for your feedback on our resort.

First off, I would like to apologise for any misgivings you have about Dhensa. It is truly not our intention to have any of our guests feel that way I apologise for the lapses that led to your comments about the breakfast issues and at the same time would like to thank you for highlighting it to us.

The hotel is relatively new and we do recognise that our efforts may miss the mark once in awhile. Therefore, the training is constant in an attempt to mitigate these lapses. Unfortunately, we were not able to catch yours in time and for that I apologise. It has however been noted and the issues mentioned have been addressed and rectified.

As for the spa prices, we had already gone through a price reduction and we will be reviewing our offerings based on your comments.

You have pointed out very clear areas where we will assess ourselves. In ending, I would like to thank you for recognising that we have the potential to be a great resort and we have since doubled our efforts towards achieving this goal. It is guests like yourself that make us want to pick ourselves up and improve our standards and offerings to all our guests.

Regards

Baljit

Dear Shrrrya

Thank you for your very kind comments about Dhensa. Its nice to know that we are getting things right and comments like yours spur us to improve ourselves further.

As we are less than a year old, we need as many pointers from our guests as to what we are getting right and the areas where we need improvement. Your ratings has been a tremendous help to us.

Thank you for making Dhensa your preferred choice of stay while at Punakha and we look forward to receiving you here again when you next visit Bhutan.

Yours sincerely

Baljit

Dhensa is a brand new hotel ... barely few months since inauguration. It is an awesome property with very contemporary elegance. The staff were extremely nice & efficient. Rooms are awesome - especially the balconies with great view. A free Mini-Bar is a new concept (unfortunately, I realised it only now after reading some other reviews).

Regards.

Room Tip: Some rooms have the river view - others face the valley - specifically ask for river facing rooms to get the best view.
