I like this hotel and its great location looking out over the valley. The room was comfortable, bathroom good in one of the annexe's of the main hotel. Lovely cups, tea and a kettle provided in the room. TV as well. Had a good nights sleep here. Dinner not brilliant and breakfast ok. Only criticism the room doors did tend to slam shut but otherwise everything good.

This a lovely property, and overlooking the valley. The food is good. I was the only guest in this large property, and yet service was slow. But it's a pretty place to spend the night. Stray dogs can keep you up all night though.

After reading some of the reviews here I was really worried. However, the cottages were really nice, being welcomed with tea/coffee and a hot towel was also nice and the dinner was very good. A bit old fashioned, but quite charming nonetheless.

I did new this hotel from my past travels and I did now that it's quite outdated. I also checked reviews here and was expecting the worst. And finally... It was totally ok, hotel was recently renovated, the rooms were spacious, clean with nice balcony and very modern bathroom. The food and service was excellent. I had very nice stay here and I think it's bad reviews are not really justified.

Room Tip: Stay in the main building not cottages, the rooms has better views and are recently upgraded.

This hotel classified as a 3 star would be better a 2 star as reasonble. If we look back on our 1 night stay this hotel would end with a barely a 1 star. This because personnel was not handling the problem (toilet not working) and that they would be left lying makes it unacceptable. Even for dinner and certainly breakfast we would end on a 2 star hotel. Problem is that if you want to visit this area there is not so much choice. There is no pressure on the management to improve from concurrents.

Stayed here midway through our trip to Bhutan. The location is great: on a hill overlooking Punakha and close to a nunnery built by the father of the current queen. When we arrived the property was relatively bustling with three 10-15 person tour groups arriving at around the same time.

The rooms are cozy and clean, though not nearly luxurious as a Bhutanese 5-star hotel. We stayed in one of the most recently updated bungalows and it was perfect for a one-night stay in that part of the country, especially considering the amazing views you wake up to of the valley below.

The hotel has WiFi in the lobby and a bar/restaurant. Food was decent but on the lower end of what we experienced during our trip to Bhutan; if you’re willing to venture into the valley there are some better dining choices down there, but given our packed schedule, out of convenience, we ate both breakfast and dinner at the hotel.

we took a package tour to bhutan (thimpu, punakha and paro, through a reputed travel organser - and we were in punakha, at this property for 1 night on 23d may 2013.

before the travel commenced, we read earlier reviews and were actually concerened - so much that even after getting the room coupons from tge travel organiser, we were requesting them to change the hotel. well, it was a blessing in disguise that it did not happen that way and we stayed at this hotel. we were a total of 12 persons (4 families) and we can not speak for others, but we were both very happy with our stay at the hotel.

on arrival, we asked for coffee and we were served the same in real style and that too very promptly. later we were helped toour rooms by smilibng and polite staff members. the room was rather large and very clean. it was very comfortable and everything worked. the water supply was continuous and in full force. even the hot (very hot) water was running throughout our stay.

we had ordered dinner at around 6.30 pm and we were served delicious dinner (made for the entire group of 12 persons) in a very polite and a pleasant manner by simple young folks who simply wanted to please every one.

we have a feeling tthat after the last review of april 2013, the managemnet and the staff must have worked really hard, because we really got to see the best part of them. there was no confusion, no shouting, no unnecessary running around - just efficient handling of requests. the next morning, the breakfast wss very good and the bags were handled very well. in all a 4 star experience in the price of 3 star.

we did not use the pool (we think that it was dry as it was pretty cool in the air) and we did not use the fitness center.
