We had to cut short our motorcycle ride due to some scheduling issues so we ended up in Chama. One of our group had stayed here before and recommended it. Good choice. Clean comfortable rooms. Proprietors Starla and Chester are concerned about accommodating their guests. Definitely would stay here again.

Room Tip: I stayed in one of two upstairs rooms, very nice.

After a LOT of research on nearly every place to stay in Chama and the vicinity I settled on Chama Trails. My initial phone conversations with them were helpful and friendly. We had the family suite which was a huge room, and the beds were so comfortable. The rooms were clean, and nicely decorated. We were traveling with family who we had booked two more rooms for and so we got to see their rooms and they were very nice, although we noticed that our suite was not as updated as the others (flat screen TV etc). The inn and area was so quiet and we didn't hear a peep from any of the other guests, except when we were gathering on the breezeway outside our rooms. Chester and Starla were wonderful, and they gave us a couple of great recommendations for dinner and breakfast. Upon checkout Starla gave my kids, husband and father-in-law Chama Trails caps, which was very sweet. We will definitely stay here again! Thanks Chester and Starla!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Had booked at the River Bend Lodge, but they lost our reservation, referred us to the Chama Trail's, and I think we ended up much better off. We had a beautiful room, and the most comfortable bed of our 5-night motorcycle road trip. Plus, it is almost across the street from an excellent restaurant (High-Country), so we could walk. Starla was friendly and welcoming, and the place was neat and tidy. We could not ask for a better place to spend our night in Chama.

Room Tip: We were in one of the upstairs rooms, which was very nice.

Small quaint hotel. Very cozy avid updated to big hotel chain standards. The owners are a very sweet couple who will do anything to make you comfortable. Rooms have all been renovated with pillow top beds and flat screen tvs. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. There are a lot of other small options in this town but we visited all of them and the majority looked like my grandmothers house from the 20's and 30's, just a little dated to say the least. While you might save a few bucks here and there with the other options, the Chama Trails Inn is the best value we found for the buck. We paid a moderate price of $75 a night but when it's -20 and snowing outside you'd better be comfortable and warm in the room. Will most definitely stop back in for a visit.

We stayed a week in November which seems to be a quiet season in Chama. My wife and I were working in the area. The owners, Chester and Starla were great. The room was quiet and the bed comfortable. Wireless Internet and Flat Screen TV were better than the newer and larger casino hotel we had to move to before we left New Mexico. Not knowing what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised and hated to leave. We would absolutely stay here again. There were some quirks like any older motel, but the good far outweighed the bad.

We have stayed here several times, and have not been disappointed in Rooms 5 and 6. They have actually remodeled since our last stay, and our beds were very comfortable, with nice linens. The rooms are rustic and clean, and yes, this is the old style motel, but it is Chama. The owners are very accomadating and friendly. We will certainly stay here again. The visitors center and a restuarant are right across the street.

This place is wonderful. The rooms are rustic and charming, and we were comfortable our whole stay. The bed was nice, and the temperature was nice without use of the heater, we just opened the windows up a bit for some cool air. Starla and Chester are great people, and they made us feel so welcome. In fact, we are getting married in Chama next year, and we booked the entire motel as accommodations for our guests. We can't wait to stay here again!
