I chose this place after reviewing Chama Hotels on tripadvisor.

Too me it seemed lodging in Chama was more expensive than I would have expected.

When we arrived we met the friendly staff who had coffee and cookies out for the taking. We had a room in the main part of the building. It was, for lack of a nicer way to say it, nothing special. We appreciated the fridge and microwave. The shower had lots of hot water and great water flow.

They have a short river walk and viewing platform. The grounds are nice.

Check out was quick and friendly.

I would be curious to stay at other Chama properties to see how they compare to this one.

We stayed in Cabin 50 near the river. This cabin is cozy and accommodates 2 adults and 2 kids easily, with the kids being in a loft up a ladder. There is a limited river view from the living area. The cabin was very clean and also has a deck with a BBQ. If you stay, be sure to check that there is hot water as soon as you enter. The pilot light had gone out on our hot water heater so we had cold showers one of the two mornings we were there. There is a small levee between the property and the river with a gazebo built up for fishing access. Kids will like the large lawn and play area.

We have been making an annual, Fall trip to Chama to observe the turning leaves for 7 years in a row, and have stayed at a different property each time. Our stay at the RBL this last weekend was, by far, the best yet. This property boasts the cutest, cleanest cabins around. Very well equipped and (this from a germ-ophobe) immaculate! Beautiful, manicured grounds. Staff also extremely friendly and helpful... We had a problem with our hot water late Saturday night and the OWNER was at our door less than 15 minutes later. Problem solved. Way to go, River Bend Lodge!

We recently stayed for an overnight while we did the Cumbres and Toltec train. There are multiple pre-fabricated cabins on the property as well as tradition motel rooms. We stayed in a one bedroom cabin that had a futon in the living room a kitchenette, and a loft with a double bed mattress. Very comfortable and clean. The toiletries are very low-end/basic, but then again I was not necessarily expecting Aveda at a place like this. The bathroom is tight and the shower/tub is even tighter. If you are tall, it's going to be a feat to get showered comfortably. We went during the fall so between the furnace in the living area and two provided space heaters, we were not cold at all. There is a nice porch and charcoal grills attached to each cabin so if you want to bring stuff to grill, it could make for a great evening. The river is just a few yards away and the property has a nice pergola where you can sit, talk, and watch the river go by. There is a huge grassy area in front to play with kids or your dogs and a small playground/swing set there as well. The swing set is an old wood one so if you've got young kids, watch them carefully or they'll end up with splinters. Based on the other options we priced and then saw in person while in Chama, I think this was a great option. We would return without a doubt if we were back in that area.

Room Tip: If you have families or adult couples that don't mind cozy quarters, opt for the cabins. A grea...

The location is beautiful and the cabins are clean and comfortable. Owners and staff were very friendly and helpful!!! We had a flat tire on our way into Chama and the owners helped us by getting the tire repaired while we went on the beautiful train ride. If they had not went out of their way to help us, we wouldn't have been able to continue our trip!! Thank you Chama River Bend Lodge for your hospitality and help!!!

I loved the place good location. The cabins are great cute and cozy. Right along the river fishing at your back door. Activities avail on site. Great for watching wild life. Great location close to town stores. Staff exceptionally accommodating and so friendly. Family owned and they take great pride in their business. Recommend this for any visit.

We stayed for a long weekend in September 2013 and had a wonderful experience! We stayed in a cabin (#10) and we were impressed by how clean, new and cute the cabin interior was. It was very comfortable and exactly what we were looking for. The staff at the front office was extremely welcoming and friendly! They even remembered we were there celebrating a birthday and mentioned that again when we checked out :). Would recommend this lodge for a comfortable, friendly stay in Chama.
