“Sounds better than it actually is..”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

It's a greasy spoon. The burritos are runny due to excess grease from meat. Prices aren't great. Not a big fan of this place.

“Great cheap New Mexican Food, Great Service”
Reviewed 15 March 2014

Really good Red and Green Chile, awesome Chilaquiles, very nice enchiladas... Guadalajara has gigantic portions and an ego to match, while El Torbidio, with this location and one in Taos, has very nice staff/service. Lots of Mexican people eat here, and i'm guessing the people who don't like it here are Americans who'e be happy where the portions are gigantic, the food has less zip/flavor, and there is a liquor license, at Guadalajara. While in Taos for 3 weeks, i ate at Torbidios many times, and found less grease and salt, and more flavor here than at Guadalajara. Not sure what people are complaining about. I eat tacos from LA to Chicago to Idaho and back, and this place is perfectly good, friendly and the price is low enough. If you want a big operation with lots of extra crap and enough food to last you a day, go to Guadalajara. If you want to go where the Mexican's go to eat, go to Torbidio's.

“Greasy and salty”
Reviewed 7 August 2013

I've tried several things over a decade, and have noticed a few things about this former road side stand that now has some outdoor seating. Heavy grease smell when you walk in. All food over salted, and that is without them adding any salt. Cheap and quickly prepared when you want a quick bite to eat, but not very healthy for you. My wife won't eat there. The relleno burrito is good but really greasy.

“Tacos that just aren't good. I'm sorry.”
Reviewed 18 July 2013

It's a taco stand, so I'm sorry, but they should have good tacos.

I love the people here, but the service was really slow, and the tacos just weren't good. I had one carne asada and two adobada tacos. The carne asada was overcooked, overseasoned, and smothered in - lettuce? I do not want lettuce on my tacos - and what was supposed to be pico de gallo, but what was instead - not that. The adobada was shredded, and almost flavorless. Again covered in lettuce.

I wanted to like it, but it was just not good.
