“I've stayed here twice now.”

And each time, it's been a pleasure. It has everything a hotel should have, with plenty of local flavor. There is an attached day spa, and it's convenient to the lake. The rooms are nice, clean, and the front desk people are helpful and accomodating. The attached restaurant is good enough for my needs. There's no free breakfast the next morning, but that's okay. I recommend this place if you want a nicer place to stay in and around the area.

The Elephant Butte Inn may not look like much from the street but the rooms were very nice with good ammenities and comfortable beds. Definitely get a room with a view of the lake.
The staff was very friendly and check-in/check-out was easy and fast. The restaurant was excellant - such a surprise for a small town. We stayed two nights in the middle of the week and the dining choices in Elephant Butte and T or C are very limited. We ended up having all of our meals at the Inn and decided that even if the other restaurants had been open, we still would have eaten at the Inn.

For views and comfort, the EB Inn was everything we wanted.

We checked in here late at night as it was the first place we came to in the area which was open. We weren't expecting a lot as from the outside it doesn't look that nice. However, we were pleasantly surprised.

We had a big room with two queen beds, a fridge, microwave & coffee maker, iron & board, Gilchrist & Soames toiletries, TV. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and it was very quiet.

The complimentary breakfast was fine - cereals, pastries and bagels.

I just returned from a weekend at the Elephant Butte Inn and was so wonderfully surprised by this quaint, friendly family-owned spot. The view of the lake is awesome, so serene and quiet. The hike to the lake is easy and gives you a great feel for the desert. I saw rabbits, quail and lots of other birds on the way.

The rooms are large, clean, comfortable. I especially appreciated having a mini fridge and microwave in my room. I ate delicious meals in the restaurant there - the steak and salad combo were outstanding!! And the staff - you really couldn't ask for more! They were so helpful, accomodating, friendly and made me feel right at home. I enjoyed a massage at their new "Ivory Spa" and it was heaven! I haven't had a ton of massages before, but this was one of the best I've had.

Elephant Butte may be off the beaten path, but it's worth a trip!

Stayed one night Feb. 26. King size bed, room 213 upper floor, corner room, lakeside. Updated furnishings and decor. Very clean. Bathroom is small, sink outside. Bathroom was clean. Bed was great, lots of pillows. Heater/cooler is a wall unit and can be noisy, but we had it off and it was total silence in the hotel (I'm a very light sleeper). It was a sunday night and I didnt see any other people. There is a restaurant onsite which has standard pub fare. Its slim pickings and I thought the one stop offerings here were perfect. This is a pet friendly property and Im pretty sure there was wireless in the room but we didnt need it. You can also walk to the water, about 25mins on a nice, sandy trail. Free continental breakfast (breads, muffins, cereals). Full service restaurant and bar. Staff very nice and helpful (even trainees). Ample parking. Spa onsite but didnt use. I would recommend and stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel after reading other reviews and were really looking forward to our lakeview and all of the beauty to be seen. The lake was sooo far away it was like a bad commercial. The service of the front desk was good, but the dining service left alot to be desired. We even found ourselves wondering if the restaurant was even open for breakfast. The decor left alot to be desired. It probably has not been updated since the early 90's. It did seam clean though. There are not alot of options for that part of the country, I'll try somewhere else before I would consider returning.

  • Liked — It had a lawn for the dog to run around.
  • Disliked — Failure of people to clean up after their dog.
