“Our Trip to the "White House"”
Reviewed 18 December 2011

Unless there's a better class than first class, we'll continue to go back to the Casa Blanca! The staff welcomed us with big smiles and were most anxious to help us get settled in our room. The decor and private accommodations were peaceful and relaxing. Albeit difficult to leave the premises, it is centrally located to restaurants, shops and more importantly, more shopping. The breakfast was freshly prepared and deliciously satisfying. The breakfast room was tastefully set providing separate tables for your dining pleasure. We travel to Colorado every summer and it's nice to know that we have a home away from home to stay.

This is the fourth or fifth time we have stayed here - always over Thanksgiving. Considering what else is available in Farmington I have to say that this place is wonderful. It is very, very quiet and peaceful and the rooms are very comfortable. I agree with some of the other reviews that the breakfast is lacking - I can get packaged sweet rolls at a cheap hotel. But my biggest complaint is that the staff is very reserved and not really all that professional or customer service oriented. It is just little things - nothing big - but you don't get that welcoming, down-home feel that I have received at other B & B's across the country. I think this is because the owners are not on-site. All staff should read "Setting the Table" by Danny Meyer. All in all it is the only place I will stay in Farmington.

We arrived to the Casa Blanca only to be told that we had been upgraded, the room we were upgraded was the same price as the one we booked so I don't know why we didn't get the room we wanted & I had taken quite a while to choose as it was out anniversary. Our room was nice with tastefull decorating & doog facilitys however it was not very clean with food left in the bottom of the dishwasher & greasy cups, I had to re wash the cutlery before using it. Breakfast was very nice with a wonderfull cook & good selection of food. All in all it was very nice but I don't think we will return to stay there again

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed to be very nice

Property is a charming house in a residential area, just a couple blocks from the old downtown and the main drag where all the restaurants are located. Our room had a king bed, fireplace, great kitchenette, comfortable sitting area, and large bathroom. All pro's. The con's are seemingly little things but would have greatly added to the enjoyment of our stay. There is no towel bar or soap by the bathroom sink, so you toss the handtowel on the side of the tub. Weird. The bed was relatively comfortable but the pillows are need of replacement, and the only blanket was a thin cotton one--and it was 32 degrees here last night. The only heat in the room is provided by a gas fireplace that is controlled by a thermostat--so it unexpectedly goes on in the middle of the night when it gets cold, with this tick tick tick noise from the pilot--definitely not helping the sleeping department. We would agree with other comments about the breakfast: when we arrived in the very pretty breakfast room yesterday (with separate tables so you don't have to do the Waltons thing first thing in the morning--yeah) at 845 (served from 8 to 9) the hot breakfast had already been put away. Again, strange. This morning we are leaving early to head to Chaco (the major attraction around here) and we asked for early breakfast. Left-overs from yesterday were stocked in our fridge. Is it that hard to provide fresh muffins or similar at 7 instead of 8? Seems like a simple accomodation given the distances folks need to drive from here. We would also agree with comments about off-site management. We received three phone calls around 1 in the morning last night (once again not good for the sleep department). Tried to call the "24 hour on call" person and got a recording. Didn't know who called/if there was an emergency--and it's not a direct line to our room---pretty unnerving. Still no return call and it's now 7 am. All in all--would come back when in Farmington, but would call ahead of time to check on the room issues mentioned above. For the owners, I'd suggest coming down to stay a few nights and get this place more shipshape.

We stayed for 2 nights in Farmington, as many do, to explore and spend a day at Chaco Canyon. The property was charming, but we had a few issues. We had booked the least expensive suite. It was more than adequate for our needs. There was a broken pane of glass on the door that was hastily covered with the cardboard from a fedex box. We tried to open the one opening window but the crank was broken. It was too cool for the swamp cooler but the room was stuffy. The breakfast was adequate and one of the hostesses brought some fruit, yogurt, and muffins to our room because we had an early tour booked in Chaco. Overall we were disappointed but would be willing to give them another try in the future. We were not offered a change of room nor any credit for a future visit, also disappointing.

Room Tip: don't get the courtyard suite( the least expensive.)

Our stay in the Casa Blanca was perfect. Months ago we decided to stay there 3 night and we were glad that we booked. The B&B is located in a quit area.

Our room was very good. Clean and with all the comforts you want to have in your room.
You can experience their very good breakfast in the special breakfast room and meet other guests.

We highly recommend this excellent B&B.
