We stayed here for the last night of our vacation. We were en route from Lake Powell to the airport in Albuquerque. The town of Farmington is definitely not a destination spot, most I would assume, are passing through or working in the area. We booked the Casa Blanca Inn in Feb for a June trip, and after a few weeks, I was called and asked I would like to be upgraded to another room, which I thought a little odd, but fine. After reading Trip, I find this seems to be a common practice, not quite sure why?
Anyway, the room, Crownpoint Casita, was lovely and clean. Very spacious and the kitchen area was perfect for our wine and nibbles, as we were both a little reluctant to venture into the town for dinner...the "manager" greeted us upon arrival, and although he was quite friendly, he did seem a little odd, and his wife was eating cereal in the dining area and barely lifted her head when introduced. He told us not to worry if we saw flashlights in the night "as he put a lot of attention on security"....and he did mention that "we were the only guests that night", which didn't help. The property itself is lovely but the seating outside the rooms needs cleaning. The manager actually seemed to be more of a groundskeeper, as he took great pride in the gardens and this was confirmed when we met up with another lady the next day at breakfast. She had prepared a lovely buffet of granola, yogurt and fresh fruit and then we enjoyed a cooked egg dish. It was a little bland, but perhaps that's my taste. She was very nice and told us interesting stories about the house and the area. Had we met her on arrival, we would have probably relaxed a little more. The owners have spared no expense in renovations, although I found the heavy Mexican furniture a little overwhelming. All in all, it was a nice stay and given the other options in the main town, it was nice to be a more residential area.
