We enjoyed looking around, and we did purchase a few items, but the prices are not as good as some other locations in Gallup. It's definitely worth a visit.

This is the largest, most complete selection of Native Art that I have ever seen in one place. No matter what you are looking for (except cheap, fast, souvenirs) you will eventually find it in this fabulous store. Take some time to explore this store if you love native arts. The staff is so knowledgeable. There are specialists in any department. We had a wonderful experience in their vast rug room, we purchased two items and learned so much from the rug room curator. You may find that the prices here are high. But remember fine art is not inexpensive and you can believe in the authenticity of their products. The prices are not set in stone and they usually give you a price break if you are a respectful, interested customer. If you love native art, you will not be able to run in and out of this store in a hurry…take the time to enjoy.

Richardsons has a large variety of Native American made jewelry and other items. The also have the largest selection of Navajo rugs in town and maybe in the state.

We were very impressed with the quantity and quality of the Navajo rugs at Richardson's. The historic trading post was definitely worth stopping in to see, but we were disappointed at how overpriced their rugs were. Even with their 2/3 off "sale", their prices were much higher for similar quality and sized rugs that we have bought other places. This was a turn-off. Also, the saleslady who we talked with was not as knowledgable about the area and culture as others we have talked with elsewhere.

Visiting Richardson's was like a personal interactive museum tour. Our "sales assoc", actually more like a docent, took us through all the rooms and thoroughly explained the role of trading posts, active pawn, and various intricacies of Navajo weaving. It was a delightful experience and extremely educational. We purchased a Katchina doll. Highly recommend!!
