We don't often get the chance to escape our business in Albuquerque, but just an hour or so to the north are the Jemez Mountains and we love that area. High Country, they call it, at 7,500 feet and above. Alpine Country is what I call it, with air so light and clean you can breathe deep, deep, deep and feel the life come into your lungs and heart with each breath. On this Labor Day weekend we chose to discover Elk Mountain Lodge and reserved the Tall Pines Cabin, which is set apart from the other accommodations and allowed us to bring our dogs (good doggies, they don't jump around on the furniture or otherwise tear the place up). We couldn't have asked for a more comfortable place to rest and re-charge, and taking in the beauty of the High Country at this site was just perfect. Garth and Robin are wonderful inn keepers and made us feel welcome right from the start. The breakfast they prepare each morning (included) is superb - best darn breakfast burritos and hot cereal we've had! They are deeply knowledgeable about the mountains and more than willing to guide your travels around the area. We really want to thank them for making our stay a splendid one.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Tall Pines Cabin, which is the only separate and totally private accommodation, abs...

Roma,
We are so pleased that you were able to take a well deserved "breather" from your busy schedules at the bakeries and even more happy that you chose us for your Labor Day weekend! We would be honored to have you return. Good luck with store number 3! We'll stop by to see you sometime.

The whole property was beautiful and serene. the dog, Kodiak, welcomed us and the decor in the room was soothing. The breakfast was good also. I would love to go back and explore the unspoiled wilderness surrounding it some more.

Room Tip: make sure there is enough space for the people in your party

Touring the US from the UK, we stayed in the Tall Pines Cabin at Elk Mountain lodge. Our cabin was beautiful, in a tranquil setting set back from the main lodge on the edge of the woods. For 2 nights it had pretty much everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. It would be a lovely place to stay in the winter too, with a lovely log burner in the lounge/bedroom - very romantic. There were 2 balconies with views to the front and a bbq and outdoor Jacuzzi which was great. Our hosts were very welcoming and provided a fantastic breakfast and we tried all the options on the menu. We would definitely return and recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing location. We loved the area and hope to return there again one day.

karen k,
We feel very honored to have provided another international guest with a quality experience. Our best compliment is when a guests says that they will return for another visit with us - especially when they have to travel over 5000 miles to get here! Again, we can't thank you enough! Safe Travels!

This place combines the aesthetics of a rustic log cabin experience with all the modern conveniences of a Sky Mall catalog. I'm still trying to convince myself not to sell my house and move in here permanently.

We booked two nights hoping for a peaceful retreat with a southwest ambience. We booked the Santa Fe suite which is connected to the main building. The suite, location, service, breakfast and gracious hosts all surpassed our expectations. If we travel to Jemez Springs area again, we will certainly stay at The Elk Mountain Lodge.

My boyfriend and I wanted to escape to the mountains for a relaxing weekend getaway. We were interested in Jemez, but had no idea where to stay. I looked at some places online and took a chance and booked the Elk Mountain Lodge. I was still a little nervous as you can't always tell if a place is going to be nice, but we were more than pleasantly surprised.

The facilities were nice, clean and inviting. The owners, Garth and Robin, were exceptionally friendly and service-oriented, which was a bonus as well. We were a little worried that our cabin was right next (joined) to another cabin beside us, as we really wanted peace and quiet and to be left alone. Thankfully the folks next to us were courteous and quiet as well.

The next morning we were surprised to learn that breakfast was included in our package deal, and the food was excellent. So all in all, it was a great experience, well worth the money, and definitely something we'd do again.

Room Tip: We booked the Royal Aspen and it was beautiful. It had a relaxing jetted tub inside the room, which...

d r,
We sure appreciate your review of the Elk Mountain Lodge! One of the best compliments we can get is when guests profess that they want to come back. That's what we strive for! We'll also look at what we can do to improve the view outside the overhead windows.
Again, thank you for taking the time to review us on TripAdvisor. Safe travels!

My wife and I stopped in for some 'mid-trip luxury' during our three week JEEP excursion through the southern Rockies. Garth and Robin are great people and really love what they do. Their breakfast burrito is WONDERFUL!!! The staff has done an excellent job at providing a relaxed setting for some quiet down time. Located within an hour or less of many fantastic attractions in the area, yet remaining out of the mainstream of busy life. This place has left a welcome mark in our hearts, we will definitely return!!
