Freshly made meals and good NM wine. We have been going to Luna Rosa since it opened and will continue. It is not a chain, but is family owned and run. They have a simple menu, but have good variety. The salmon with pasta is a winner. And, one plate is enough for two people. Get it with the antipasti plate. The pizzas are made Italian style, so don't expect Pizza Hut deep dish or Domino's. Good wines at good prices for a restaurant. The best value is when you buy a bottle. Otherwise, you get a fairly small glass for the price. We have heard some great live music there. It can get uncomfortably loud inside when the restaurant is full because of the hard walls and ceiling. Lots of echo. But, typically it is not a problem. The servers sometimes fall behind with a big crowd, but they eventually do get to you. A good place to eat Italian in Las Cruces.

A group of us meet monthly and try local restaurants. This month's choice was the Luna Rossa Winery & Pizzeria. Prior to the visit, I tried to find a menu on-line without any luck. Their website is devoted to their wine business.

Upon entering the restaurant, you are greeted by a server and asked if you have a preference in tables. We did have quite a selection as no one was enjoying the patio and the restaurant was also empty.

A wine sampler was offered but declined by the group. We each ordered non-alcoholic beverages which were kept full at all times.

The lunch selection was limited to panini's and pizza. One person in our group had an eggplant pizza which was huge. She enjoyed a few slices and packed the rest for 2 more meals at home. Everyone else in the group had panini sandwiches. My sandwich (which was grilled only on one side) was to contain prosciutto, grilled peppers and mozzeralla cheese. The "prosciutto" was deli-sliced ham, not prosciutto. If a manager had come by and appeared to be concerned about his customers, I would've called this to his attention. That wasn't the case, however. The meal came with a choice of potato salad or an Italian pasta salad.

Overall, a fair lunch but not one which would bring me back any time soon.

They offer a very nice wine tasting room and some very nice local wines, from Deming, NM...very good port. Unfortunately, did not eat there...they offered several brick over fire pizzas.

I was curious about this place by driving by it and seeing it off from I-25. I went and attended a slow, lunch session and tried their version of a Mediterranean influenced pizza and the carbonara pasta, along with a few of their local wines to enjoy during the meal. The wine was surprisingly good, and I would recommend most of their red wine selections. The pizza was very good and the pasta was nothing special, but it was well seasoned and enjoyable. The decor and ambiance inside the restaurant is very welcoming, which includes very nice, carved wood chairs. The service was great and the server was very knowledgeable, as I had many questions to ask about the menu and recommendations. Would definitely like to go back and try something new.

Been twice in the last 4 mnths and have never been served. First time it was very busy and had to wait for a table. They offered to serve us outside but was very cold. Waited forever and could not get a table but others that came after us were given tables. 18/Feb/12 tried again. Not terribly busy. Was seated by a hostess at at table and then ignored. Sat there for 30 minutes. No one even acknowledged that we were even there. Not offered water. Not offered any wine. We were given a menu but no one wanted us to order. Got up and left finally. What do you have to do to get a meal. I would not bother with this place. There are lots of places in Las Cruces that do want your business.
