Owner description: Come visit Tierra Wools for the unique opportunity to see the Rio Grande weaving traditions used in present day. Hidden away in tiny Los Ojos, New Mexico where growing wool and fiber arts were once a way of life. Browse our beautiful gallery and shop as well as our production sites where we hand dye and weave our yarns.

This is an incredible place when it comes to native weavings. Certainly, way out from the road and regularly travelled paths. The exterior doesn’t look like much either. However, if you do enter, you'll be treated to quite the eye candy. The exterior does not begin to even hint at the beautiful items housed in the large interior spaces.

There is a room with about a dozen huge looms and spinner wheels where they hold classes regularly, and also huge rooms with multifarious displays on weavings, fashion, prints, and other genuine New Mexico products. If this place was located near Santa Fe, or in between Abiquiu and Santa Fe, it would be a regular tourist destination. I really cannot stress enough how impressive the interior is relative to the exterior.

The owners have a lovely history. This is the real deal, and hope to visit again in the future.

These hand made products are top notch and clearly done wth care. The wool is unique and high quality. The prices reflect the hand made quality.

The town of Los Ojos and the Tierra Wools store is a great side trip if you are in the area. It's a beautiful little slice of rural New Mexico with interesting architecture and small town charm.

Beautiful country. Enjoyed talking with one of the weavers as she worked the Rio Grande Walking counterbalance loom. Consigned rugs are true works of art ... too good for the floor. Spent more money than I intended but I'm sure I'll go back!

Tierra Wools is in an old, rough looking building on the main street of Los Ojos, NM. Not much else left on main street of Los Ojos. Walk inside, however, and be surprised. Beautiful weaving - rugs, mats, table runners, shawls, sweaters, more rugs. Then, go in the weaving room where there are numerous looms with weaving left in various stages of completion, waiting on the weavers to return. If you are lucky, like we were, there may be 1 or 2 weavers working away and happy for you to watch. We bought rugs. You can't leave without buying. My wife wanted to buy the town and revive it around the weavers!
