We just ate our second meal at Andele, having stopped in a few weeks ago on a trip to Texas. We made sure to spend the night in Las Cruces on the way back just to eat at Andele again. As a New Mex Mex afficianado, I think Andele is the best New Mex Mex restaurant I've ever tried (and I've sampled many). It's a small place with only 16 tables and attracts a strong local clientele. Starting with the delicious chips and a tasty salsa bar with 5 different salsas, things just keep getting better. Rice and beans were both excellent (amazing how many Mexican joints can't even get these staples right). In my two visits, I tried the pozole (a superb pork and hominy stew) and the #1 combo which consists of a chile relleno, flauta, enchilada and chile (in this case, green...order the #2 if you prefer red chile). For a first visit and a great introduction to the cuisine, I'd recommend the #1. I've yet to try the house specialty which is tacos al carbon; if they're half as good as the other dishes, they would be worth serious consideration. What's further remarkable about Andele is that two people can eat for around $15 (drinks, tip and tax excluded).
The location is at 2184 S Ave de la Mesilla, reachable from the exit 140 motel row off I-10.
