“Great reunion spot”
Reviewed 15 March 2004

A rustic but charming spot for three women friends to reunite, relax, sample the mud baths, the arsenic waters, and rejoice in the warm October air with the blue mountains and the blazing yellow leaves framing the horizon. Okay, the bed was a bit lumpy and the toilet was noisy. But the down comforters were cozy. It would be good to offer a continental breakfast and offer some alternatives to the restaurant.
But the free wrap was terrific and my blue corn facial was delightful.
It's not a glamorous spa but we loved it and it's also available for day-use.

My friend and I visited Ojo Caliente in February, 2004. We weren't very happy with our hotel room. It was very old, small, and only had one bed. For $90, we expected something better. However, it did include use of the mineral springs. The pools are manmade and quite small, but there weren't very many people there, so they weren't crowded. The waters weren't overly hot, so it made for nice soaking. We enjoyed the complimentary blanket wrap after our soak, as well as the very hot arsenic bath in private tubs.

The restaurant was very expensive and we didn't eat there, but the menu looked inviting and the people we saw in the dining room seemed to be having a good time. The establishment was very clean and the staff we met were all friendly.

This old motel/hotel has only one thing to recommend it: the mineral springs. The rooms are overpriced (at $122 during Christmas holidays) for the services offered. The furnishings are old, mis-matched and uncomfortable. The restaurant is seriously overpriced, and the service is usually indifferent in hotel, spa, and restaurant. Appointments for all services are required, yet they feel free to cancel or move the appointment times, often causing us to miss a massage appointment. The massage therapists are great, the variety of pampering services offered are the best possible, but the attendants and others working at the hotel could use some service training! Our family has been coming to this spa for the past 15 years and keep hoping they will bring the standard of service up to the level of the pricing!

There is an article about this beautiful place in the Jan/Feb issue of Organic Style magazine
it is worth reading, plenty of hiking, many types of mineral pools indoor many out door also mud bath, water yoga, clay pottery class and a wonderful resteraunt and much moore. An hour from Santa Fe and 50 min from Taos, they have rooms at the historic hotel or cottages or you can rent one of the houses.
