We stayed at camping Pyrenees Natura in Estaing and went here a few times. Lovely lake with amazing views, great walk and a river that allows for fantastic dam building. It is much less touristy than many other parts of Pyrenees and has often a local cheese seller setting up a table with goat cheeses.

This is a nice place to be. You can drive straight to the lake. Horses are walking loose and you can buy an ice cream in the local shop.
Nice to wander around.

We stayed at a campsite around 3 miles from the Lake so it was very easy to access for us. The lake comes into view as you crest the brow of a hill and it is a wonderful site. There are lots of wild pony's and a couple of herds of cows around the lake. Be careful with your picnic's as the pony's will be very interested. The lake can get busy at weekends but is alot quieter during the week, but there is plenty of space to be able to find some peace and quiet. This is one of the most beautiful places I have been to in the world.

Wonderfully located lake at end of the valley with superb views and easy walk round the lake or easy access to choice of hiking trails. Streams for little ones to play in and cafe and restaurant close by.

This rather beautiful lake was a little bit dry this December, but we used it as departure point for our hike in its surroundings. Easily accessible by road, lovely spot for all the family, even the little ones can walk around the lake and have a nice day, surrounded by the clouds and by the steep slopes.
