We stayed in the Lodge Suite. 5 bedrom/3 baths & a very well supplied kitchen. We had 16 people and everyone had a bed!. Location excellent with views of ski area. Easy walking distance to almost everything in RR. We were especially impressed with the abundance of towels & quiality of blankets on beds. Hot tub & sauna always had fresh towels. Parking lot small for holiday, but once you get a spot you can leave your car there & walk everywhere.

The room was very run down, and it was quite noisy. Also, check out time was 10:00 am! On the plus side, the hot tub was nice and no one else was in it the two times we used it. For a bit more money, I'd stay across the street at the Alpine Lodge - much nicer.

This place is the classic dump
The rooms are by far out dated and not kept up.
I asked for some more towels and I guess it was a bunch of trouble for the front desk.
The people were far from nice they more or less acted like all they cared about was my money and then for me to get out.
The only thing these people have going for them in that they are in the middle of town.
I would rather stay across or down the street at a place that at least made an attempt to make me feel welcome.
Other than the run down motel the town was great and a fun place.

I don't understand all the excellent reviews. Yes, it's fairly cheap, but there are several other cheap places to stay in town. The hotel looks like it hasn't been renovated in many years. The door locks didn't work properly and we were advised not to use the deadbolt. The heating didn't work one night and there were no extra blankets. The managers weren't particularly helpful or friendly. The cleaning service only took the garbage and left fresh towels, but did no actual cleaning. It was not a cozy, comfortable, welcoming place to stay. It was adequate.

My title nearly says it all. I rated it a 5 based on value. We took advantage of the stay 3-get 1 free deal. Short walk to lifts and several restaurants. Market is about 1/2 block away. We had a 1st floor room with kitchen, double vanity bath, separate living room with wood burning fireplace (wood provided). Broadband wireless. Really couldnt ask for anything more.

The Ponderosa was perfect for the price. You can't ask for a better location and the lodge had everything needed for a comfortable stay (clean, kitchen supplied, fireplace, hot tub, etc). The owner was helpful and provided us with recommendations for our road cycling trip - you can't beat the mountains for biking! He was also helpful following our unexpected car troubles. He alerted us of phone calls and allowed a later check out as we awaited word on the status of our car repairs. The Ponderosa is not just a nice place to stay, but is also operated/managed by a very kind man. Thanks for a wonderful stay - we will be back!

There's but one place to stay in Red River, NM if you want an ideal location (Main Street, view of slopes, walking distance to all attractions), comfortable lodging amenities, and the right price and that's the Ponderosa Lodge.

Eight family members and I (ages 3 months, teens, 40s, up to 73 years)stayed in the 5 bedroom/3 bath/1 living area/1 kitchen/1 fireplace lodge suite with the picture window looking out over Red River Main Street and the ski slopes for five nights during Spring Break 2006. There was plenty of room for all and the owners of the Ponderosa Lodge met our every request.

Should you not need 5 bedrooms you can rent the 4 and 3 bedroom lodge suites as well. While I've not seen the inside of the single room units I would still attest to the Ponderosa's excellence due to its location, price, and overall quality.
