“Wonderful 3 Day Vacation”
Reviewed 1 February 2014

This is my second year to stay here, and I love it. The location is just perfect--roll out of bed, go down a dozen steps, across the small parking lot and you are at the Copper Lift, headed for a day on the mountain. The room is clean, lots of amenities, fridge and microwave so you can eat at home (remember, you can just ski down to your room for a breather and a bite), wi-fi, non smoking, and a friendly staff. I have reservations for next year.

We love the charm of Copper King and Red River, NM. The town is quaint and you are walking distance from everything. The ski in/ski out is fabulous! No hauling gear. The rooms are very clean, fully stocked kitchen, and staff are awesome. I love looking out the large glass window at the deer, ducks, river, and mountain in the morning. They have both gas and charcoal grills. It's great to unwind in the hot tub after a full day of skiing. By the way, we have never had a problem with the hot tub. It's great to swing down by the river while enjoying a glass of wine. The kids can feed the deer right out of their hand. We have spent several Christmas' at Copper King and a couple of Spring Breaks. We are already booked for a New Years trip 2015!!! Thanks Copper King for giving our family us such great memories!

Room Tip: #17 and #18 have great views!

This place is perfect for families traveling on a budget like us. It is very clean and the staff is very friendly. One of the ski lifts is right there next to the property. We stayed in #13 with a great view of the river and ski lift.
Only negatives were minor, Wi-Fi is not that great, hot tub was broken during our stay and the dryer in the laundry onsite took 3 cycles to get our clothes dry and no we did not overfill it.

We just completed our 3rd Annual Christmas stay at Copper King Lodge and I believe it was even better than the previous years! We stay in 33, 34/35 and the large unit overlooks the river and the ski lift and it is breath taking to sit and look out at the beauty of the mountain especially when the ducks and deer are roaming about. The Lodge is very centrally located and within walking distance of everything in town (on both ends) and the fact it is on the river and next to a ski lift is just icing on the cake!! Red River is a lovely town and ski area but the Copper King property and the owners and staff are exceptional and truly elevate our vacation from a 10 to a 15! The rooms are huge and the beds are comfortable, with wonderful new linens. The kitchen rooms are very well equipped with every dish, appliance, and utensil you may need. Do not be afraid to stay in an upstairs room; the back stairs are covered with carpet and not the least bit slippery even under the worst conditions. In the morning before the sun comes up....open the curtains looking out onto the mountain, turn on the heater so the embers ignite in the fireplace, and watch the sun come up on the snow covered mountain....the beauty is breath taking....NOTHING LIKE IT. The time goes too quickly and the morning we pack the car is always a sad time. We all feed the deer and ducks one last time and leave the apples and the bag of deer corn on the walkway for the next guest fortunate enough to spend time with everyone at Copper King Lodge!

Room Tip: Stay on the backside and overlook the river; the view is worth lots more than you will pay!!!

This is our fourth Christmas stay at Copper King Lodge. That, in and of itself should say plenty. We stayed in #13, a three bedroom cabin that overlooks the river. Wildlife remains abundant. The Copper Chair is steps away from the back door, very convenient for the family to meet back for lunch, etc. The owners treat us like family. Heck, they even accepted shipment of Christmas packages prior to our arrival, and upon our return home, had left message of a charger we had left behind. Very clean, very comfortable, just a great week at the Copper King Lodge. There is no place I'd rather stay in Red River. No, it's not a luxurious condo ski resort hotel, but that's not Red River's vibe. Head to Summit County, Colorado for those. If you want clean, hospitable, charming cabins, steps from a chairlift AND Main Street, book Copper King. Thanks Clay and Michelle for another great Christmas stay.

The 2 bedroom cabin was perfect for our family of 4. The view from the bedroom was breathtaking. The highlight of the day was always the visits from the deer and the ducks. We went through many pieces of bread, tortillas, and crackers. The cabins were very quiet, roomy, and clean. We never heard our neighbors on either side. The beds were comfy and warm. The kitchen was accommodating with everything needed to cook our meals. I did bring a crock-pot from home. On a side note, we shopped for groceries in Angel Fire. The prices were much, much cheaper than the store in Red River:) The heater in the bathroom was much appreciated during those cold mornings. There is a washer/dryer on the premises, but the dryer did take a long time to dry our small load. Access to the Copper Chair lift is a plus. No complaints about this property. We are coming back next year for sure! We love Red River and loved Copper King Lodge.

Room Tip: The riverfront rooms are worth the extra cost.

From the minute we stepped out of the vehicle, opened the curtains of our cabin to see deer in the snow right outside the big picture window, to listening to the Red River trickle downstream... this place is nothing short of wonderful! Cabin was fairly roomy, clean and everything needed to cook Thanksgiving dinner was in the kitchen! The staff is very friendly and very accommodating of all your needs. Dearly loved our stay!!!!

Room Tip: Pick a room that is right on the riverfront! Beautiful breathtaking view!
