We loved being located on the west end of town because it was quieter than the other side of town where the late night activity happens. The hotel has a beautiful riverside setting and provided a comfortable place where we were able to relax. Room was clean though some are a bit small since it is an older hotel. It was well worth the price. Office and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful and seemed to take pride in their work and enjoy what they do for guests. We will go back.

Room Tip: Cains are larger than hotel rooms. Ask for a room near the park. We found the riverside especially p...

We stayed here as a family last Thanksgiving for the 1st time and fell in love with the lodge. We came back a week ago, just my husband and I, and everything was better than we had both remembered. We had a spectacular view of the mountains, a fireplace, king bed, and a very clean room. We were happy and content. Cathy, Mike, and Carmen were very accommodating as they were a year ago and made sure we had everything we needed for another great stay. The hot tubs were still amazingly clean and they still burn a big campfire every night. My husband and I enjoyed it all.

This was supposed to be a "honeymoon suite" and in my opinion it was very subpar, The one thing which disturbed me most was one set of sliding windows had no lock so you could not secure the room during the night or while you were away. It would have taken me less than thirty seconds to be inside the room without a key by simply opening the windows and crawling inside. Very, very small bathroom and I think they are so afraid of more than the allotted number staying in a room we had two washcloths, ONE hand towel and two bath towels. The TV was mounted up on a side wall and very uncomfortable to watch. A suite is usually two rooms but this was one room which had the bed, a small couch and a small table and two chairs. Everything is more or less handyman constructed and the sliding patio door is ready to fall apart. I was very disappointed but we did not let our disappointment ruin our anniversary but I will not be returning.

The lodge is right by the river. We stayed in one of the condos; it was nice. The small kitchen was nicely stocked. The one issue I had was the early check-out time. I think 10:00 is too early for a small mountain town. While hunters may get up early, if you're staying in town there's not much to do that early. It would be nice to be able to relax for an extra hour or two. Also, there's Wi-Fi in the lobby, but not the rooms.

My wife and 9 month old son stayed here for one night. We had room 23 which was quite comfortable and clean but older. Wood paneling on the walls and older carpet. Heat was from a wall unit which could be an issue if it were very cold, I suspect. It was not very cold while we were there, so it wasn't an issue. The kitchen is fully equipped with full size stove and refrigerator if you were so inclined to cook. Not sure about during the winter season, but while we were there they lit a fire pit outside at 6 each evening and you could sit around it on chairs or swings enjoying a beer or glass of wine as we did. The grounds are very nice and spacious and there are kids gyms and swings. Parking was ample. I thought the rate was a bit high for the amount of occupants and time of year (not busy at all) but it was consistent with the other hotel we checked. A ski lift is about 100 yards from the hotel, so easy to get to if you were staying during the ski season. The lady at the front desk was very friendly when we arrived. My only suggestion is to make sure you are there before 8 pm as there doesn't appear to be any option for late check in. Something to ask about if you plan to arrive after the lobby closes.

Please note -- this review pertains to the motel style rooms only.

While we're not into luxury at a mountain lodge, these rooms lacked some basics, the most important being reading lamps on both sides of the bed. Surely this cannot be asking too much.

The flooring was in need of updating, and while it was clean, it didn't look so.

There's really nothing else to say about the rooms, because there was nothing else interesting about it. Very basic, that's all. The property is lovely, as is Red River. Of course, the town is full of junky overpriced shops and hotels, but at least doesn't look too touristy. There seem to be building codes in effect. It feels more like Colorado than New Mexico.

Probably won't return, but it was fun.

Room Tip: Try for something more than the basic motel room.

It isn't a 5 star hotel but the price was right and they were very accommodating, in center of town, i rented a one bedroom cabin for my daughter and her family which had a hideaway bed in living room and rented a studio for my husband and i which was small only room for 2 people but very quaint, would stay there again.
