I can't speak highly enough of Cheetah Plain. The facilities, activities and staff were beyond expectations for me and my family. The safaris were breath taking, with an incredibly knowledgabe guide. My daughter, who has coeliacs was catered for with limited notice. I could not recommend this place highly enough.

We just stayed at the Cheetah Plains Lodge and I can tell you that this place must be rated the top location in Sabi Sand. The personnel were top notch. Kelly greeted us with a huge smile and a walkie-talkie. Justin and Candice were phenomenal. Collen was a great bartender. The lodges were superb and the meals even better. We had amazing massages. Justin's knowledge of the animals was great but we had Doc as our driver/guide. Doc was amazing. If you wanted to see something specific, you just had to ask. His patience and knowledge of the animal's behaviors was beyond belief. We saw the Big 5 all on our first day. He made it the Big 6 with cheetah as well. We saw cheetah cubs and the mother even made a kill. We saw leopards (multiple times). We even saw a pair mating and a kill. The leopard even took the kill up a tree, something you only see on National Geographic. I would recommend this lodge to anyone staying in the Sabi Sand area and would tell you that if you can, ask for Doc.

Room Tip: Room 3 is right in the middle and a close walk to the Boma and the main lodge.

I can't even begin to say how wonderful this place is. The people are amazing, the food and service is to die for. We spent four days here and our guide Doctor was AMAZING. We were lucky enough to see the Big 5 plus the Cheetah all on our first safari due to the amazing ability of our guide. He absolutely backed up everything he said was going to happen and I cannot thank him enough for his amazing talent he has with knowing what the animals will do. We missed a few sundowners and coffee but the pay off was to see a Leopard take a kill up a tree and a Cheetah mom make a kill for her two cubs, priceless!! I will have so many amazing memories to cherish for a lifetime. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else on safari.

We have just had the pleasure of staying 3 nights at Cheetah Plains and had a wonderful experience. The huts were small but had all we needed as you were on safari most of the time.
The main building was decorated with all South African items which was great to see. The meals were very impressive and very filling. The staff were very friendly and you felt very much at home and apart of the scene. Very relaxing spot. The local hippo Henry was great to see in the pond so close to the camp. As for the safaris they were very good saw the Big 5 and many, many, more. There were also lots of animals at each siteing and every safari was different. Both the country and animals changed per safari. Our guide/tracker Andrew was exceptional and knew his animals behaviours very well, great knowledge he shared with us, thanks heaps for such a memorable stay. Also we loved the hot water bottles-great touch. One thing the blankets should be woollen-much warmer. Thanks heaps will happily recommend this great game reserve..

We spent two nights at cheetah plains as part of our honeymoon trip to South Africa. The place was just amazing. Our (luxury) room had absolutely everything we needed (including a nice view on wild animals passing by) and the main building was impressive, very well furnished and comfortable. The staff was welcoming and always happy to assist, and it looked as if everything was actually made to make our stay as exclusive as possible. The food was really lovely and having diner around a fire was extremely nice. Cherry on the cake, the reserve was great and the safaris were top notch (thank you Justin!). Would definitely recommend!

I am a senior person travelling on my own and was cared for so well I just didn't want to leave, Kelly will tell you that. The food was excellent, staff just fantastic and Doc's game drives out of this world, he shared so much of his knowledge with all the occupants of the vehicle. The fact that he would go off road was amazing and what we found when he did, was very different to the usual routes. I learned so much about the various animals and their habits. My room was great and being escorted to and fro during the evening time was always secure. All I needed was to be reminded what day it was and what time I had to be in the car! I had 6 nights there and wish I had stayed longer.

Room Tip: My room was Unit 1 and very comfortable, but then I was on my own so had plenty of room.

My family have just had a wonderful trip to South Africa and Cheetah Plains was definitely the highlight against strong competition. The lodge is relaxed and comfortable with the most fantastic hospitality from all the staff. We had excellent food - especially the brunches and the braai (the best boerwors of the trip!). This is the place if you love to see animals. We saw all the big five in one drive but it was far more than just ticking the boxes. In our two days we saw leopards mating, baby hyenas, followed lions on a hunt and spotted a shy genet plus much more. No queues of vehicles here - you feel the peace of the bush. Our tracker Doctor was completely amazing and we felt we had made a friend when we left. Thank you Willem and all at Cheetah Plains.

Thank you for your review and kind words, we really appreciate it.

We are delighted that we could share our special corner of the world with you and that you enjoyed such a great game viewing experience. Each safari is unique and different, and in the Northern Sabi Sands each day is an adventure. As you rightly say, safaris are not about ticking the boxes, but really experiencing nature and the animals in their natural world.
We hope to welcome you back again soon, please do stay in touch via our Facebook page and please share some of your pictures, we would love to see.

Wild wishes,
Willem du Toit.
