“Beautiful property and Excellent Staff”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

This is an absolutely gorgeous property with incredible staff. We loved it from the moment of arrival until departure. The staff create a magical environment and are so friendly (genuinely so) that you feel comfortable at all times. The food and wine are delicious and on the safari drives, we saw the Big 5 in one day! The massage I had was one of the best ever. The trend for massages in the States is an elbow in the back, which I really do not care for. However, strong hands at the Ebony made the massage most divine! Also, very good internet coverage here. Because Singita was so wonderful, when we come back to Africa, we will focus on Singita properties, as they really know how to run a lodge well.

Room Tip: We had a family room (room 1), which had 3 bathrooms! I believe room 2 also is a family room. Thes...

We stayed in April 2014

To say this was an unforgettable experience is to seriously understate it. We'd been to 4 other properties on our Africa trip and this was the last one before we headed home. We arrived late in the afternoon, missing the departure time for the afternoon drive. If we'd known beforehand we would have looked a taking a charter flight from Kruger International to the private airstrip and saved ourselves the car ride and arrived much earlier

That aside, which had nothing to do with Singita itself, this stay was a magnificent experience. The accommodation was first class, the service was excellent and the attention to detail was outstanding. Examples of this include hot-water bottles under the blankets on the seats of the cars when leaving on the morning excursion, spare binoculars for guests in the cars, padded rests for photographers to brace their cameras and "comfort packs" for female guests who might need to "go behind a bush" during an excursion. At one point during a drive,we had a discussion about different whiskeys. That evening when we came to dinner we found that the bar staff had lined up 5 or 6 different whiskeys for us to try. Very very impressive.

The restaurant could hold its head up high in any company, anywhere in the world. The a la carte menu was varied, tasted great, was professionally presented and I even had some local kudu steak which was delicious. All meals, drinks, wine and mini bar were included in the tariff.

Our driver, Andy and guide, Syd were very knowledgeable and accommodating. We saw lions, leopards, elephants, rhino, wilderbeest, warthogs, impala, kudu, zebra, giraffes, monkeys, baboons, a variety of birds and even cheetah which we tracked for two days before finally finding them.

I had the experience of sitting in an open vehicle, right next to the track, watching a leopard strolling down, and as it slowly walked past, less than 2 feet from me, it turned its head to look me directly in the eye and just continued on.....indescribable!!

The souvenir shop located a few minutes drive from the lodge was well worth the visit with a large and impressive variety of well made and interesting handicrafts, completely different from most other "mass produced" souvenirs you'd expect in other parts of the world. Make sure to visit - you won't regret it.

On the last night, the turn-down experience included running a hot bath, sprinkling petals into the shape of a heart next to a ice-bucket with a bottle of champagne and two glasses next to it. See my photos.

An amazing experience. Just go - you will remember it always!!

I don't even know where to begin! Everything about our time at Singita was world-class and unforgettable. We flew into their private airport on the property and were greeted by the guides who would be with us our entire time there. We arrived at lunch time and decided to all sit outside on their balcony dinning area. Within 5 minutes, there was a herd of elephants playing in the river below us. The safaris were incredible and we saw all of the Big 5 during out 4 day/ 3 night stay there. The guides really made the trip for us. Not only were they extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, plants, property and our many different cameras (it must be a prerequisite because they all knew how to work our Canons & Nikons), but they were genuinely good people. They became a part of our family and we were sad saying goodbye to them. Also, the rooms were amazing. Each suite that we stayed in had an outdoor shower and private pool overlooking the main river on the property. We could see several wildlife from our own private balcony. The food was fantastic and the drink selection was top notch. We were all blow away. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to stay at Singita Ebony Lodge!

Room Tip: They are all great!

Great villas, great staff, outstanding views, lots of game, food is sublime, the wine list (South African) is impressive, you could not ask for more. Best lodge I have stayed in.

I'll be back but I will try the Boulders next time which is currently under renovation.

Stayed here for 3 days. I've been to nice hotels, including Burj Al Arab, Ritz Carlton. This was better. Amazing rooms... not rooms... houses. Food, location, staff and the animals. You can't go wrong.

I stayed at this fantastic place for 3 nights in March. I was on a 3 months cruise around the world and one if the excursions that was offered, was this.
I loved every minute if it and these 3 nights/4 days were simply the highligth of my trip.
I cannot put a finger on anything, that was not top class.
I got so much peace in my mind sitting in the Landrover just taking in all the beautyful nature.
This place is a must for everybody that are planning a safari. Here you get the best.
I will do my very best to comeback.
Thank you for making my trip so perfect!!!

After reading all of the reviews and doing your research, you'd expect an amazing experience. But what you can't imagine is how welcomed you will feel by the extraordinary staff. Everyone has a gentle, warm manner and it feels like all they want you to do is to have an incredible experience. There isn't anything forced or formal. It is quiet, casual and luxurious. Every detail from the layout of the gorgeous bungalows, to the bags that are kept next to your door for you to fill with your safari jackets. Every detail is thought out. The food is fantastic. You must pace yourself. You'll be tempted to try everything, especially the baked goods that are different each day.

But you are here for the wildlife and WOW, the wildlife is here waiting for you. Our guide Ricardo and tracker, Lawrence were INCREDIBLE. Not only did we find rhino, lions, cheetah, a leopard, and elephants and more....but it was done with such respect for the animals. We didn't stress them. As a matter of fact they usually didn't even look at us and we were often just a few feet away!!! And we weren't just looking....we were learning. The Land Rovers were so comfortable...even when going off road. (wow, was that exciting!)

Ricardo and Lawrence we spoke of you often during the rest of our trip. We so appreciated having you to introduce us to South Africa. We won't forget that wild drive that ended with us right next to the male lions who yawned and rolled over because their bellies were so full/ Or when you spotted that HUGE rhino and then said, "look two elephants" and we thought your were joking. And when we spotted the lion pride and the male took off after the female and we were speeding along with them! Wow! It was such an adventure.

Agnes, thank you for taking such great care of us. When we opened the bag with the surprise gingerbread we were so touched. Thank you for arranging that and thank you to the chefs and bakers who made us such amazing meals, but especially our private dinner in the library. We loved everything....but especially the spring rolls that we had requested!

And thank you to the sommelier who arranged for the wine tasting and allowed Elizabeth to surprise her Dad with such a special birthday surprise bottle of "Singita" wine.

I know this is a big trip. I know this is a very expensive trip. But there is nothing we have ever done that came close to the pure luxury, the excitement, fun, and memories that we made at Singita.

We thought this was a once in a lifetime trip. But I know we are going back. We have to! And there is no question that we will be staying at Singita. Best wishes to all of the staff and to everyone fortunate to experience Singita Sabi Sand.

Room Tip: We stayed at the Lewis Suites. Two bungalows right next to each other closest to the lodge. Perfec...
