“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2007

This is a fantastic lodge, well worth its five star rating. The suite is beautifully laid out with its own viewing deck, private pool, in-suite bath and outdoor shower. The suite is well appointed and very comfortable.

The food was extraordinary. The game drives were fantastic, especially our guide Charles who managed to show us so many animals!

We stayed at Vuyatela for three nights on our honeymoon and it was the highlight of our holiday. The lodges are beautifully decorated and incredibly close to the wildlife - we had three elephants grazing only metres from our deck on one afternoon. The game drives were well worth the early starts and Charles was a fantastic ranger and clearly very passionate about his job. We managed to see the Big Five and all at very close range, something we'll never forget. The food at Vuytela was wonderful and the staff were extremely attentive, arranging a candlelit dinner on our last night. We would have loved to have stayed there for longer and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to others.

We had a wonderful stay! Staff is great, what a location, and we saw the big five. We were at the Vuyatela lodge. The meals were great. Solly and James were a great ranger and tracker. The view off our deck always had something to offer. We arrived on our anniversary, what could be nicer?

My husband and I stayed at Vuyatela for three nights during our honeymoon. We had a fabulous time! The chalets are extremely luxurious, the food is excellent, and the game drives are fantastic. The staff really went out of their way to make us feel special. We had our own "honeymooners" table for dinner the first night, and they decorated our room with flower petals and candles. Our guide, Chris, actually works at Bush Lodge, and he was wonderfully knowledgeable and accommodating. We have set our standards really high for our future trips -- we hope one of them will be a return to Djuma!

  • Liked — Everything about the camp is wonderful
  • Disliked — The vehicles are a bit bumpier than the Land Rovers other reserves use!

I loved everything about vuyatela. The staff is amazing the food is excellent the accomdations lovely. We saw the big five in 2 days and even had a leopard on the property. I gained a lot of insight about life in south africa and I was able to meet locals. I found the camp to be laid back and not haughty

This was the most amazing place and has blown every other holiday ever out of the water.

The lodge is brilliant - quirky, different and environmentally in keeping and sound. The staff are incredibly friendly, discreet, unobtrusive and at the same time interested and sociable, managing to pull off the perfect combination of service and personal touches.

The game drives were incredible, we saw everything, and enjoying a sundowner looking over a watering hole accompanied by the sound of hippos tryly unforgettable.

They fed us non stop and the food, without expception was brilliant, not one duff meal.

We loved this place and cannot wait to return.

  • Liked — the individual lodge - outdoor shower
  • Disliked — loved all of it

The main problem with this review is to where to start. This was a FANTASTIC place, it managed to blend in 5 star accomodation, in the middle of the bush, without ever seeming to intrude on it. The rooms were lovely, built from local materials, and could not be faulted. The service was second to none, and always carried out with a smile. However it was the game drives that were the best. The Rangers were knowledgable and friendly, and went out of thier way to ensure that we had the best possible expereince.

Between game drives thier is the opportunity to go on a Walk with one of the rangers, or you can visit the local village, where the teachers and children are all very proud of thier school, and only to happy to show you round.

Dinner in the evening is a very sociable affair, everyone sitting around large table, discussing the days events, often in the evening, animals can be seen wandering across the waterhole. We actaully saw a Male Leopard, arrive for a drink at about 11 pm one evening, amazing stuff.

Great Great experience, added to by the brilliant staff and owners
