“There's Leopards in them there Hills”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

We stayed at Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve for 3 nights at the recommendation of Australian author, Tony Park, who is expected to include a scene set here in his next African novel (to be released late 2014). And it was brilliant!
Our room, raised to look out over the view to the waterhole, was exceptional. It featured an outside shower and plunge pool on the veranda. From the inside bath, you could look through the glass doors and see the passing parade. In the the room were such things as a stocked bar fridge, electronic safe, iPod dock, Nespresso coffee machine and the usual robes, toiletries, etc. Wifi is available in the library. There's also a small gym and a gift shop.
The food was terrific - you will undoubtedly over-eat - and over-drink, unless you are remarkably disciplined. I'm not.
The game viewing was fabulous, thanks to the efforts Johan and Sipho. We spent time with white rhino, including a calf, lionesses and cubs, a large male lion, leopard, a couple of individual buffalo, and a couple of herds of elephants with playful calves - that's the "big five", along with the usual plains game.
Excellent!
We were driven there by road transfer organised by African Safari Adventures and flew out with Federal Airlines (FedAir) to Johannesburg's O R Tambo International airport in time to meet our Qantas departure to Australia. Both were well organised and efficient.

There truly are not enough superlatives to describe Leopard Hills.
We are from Delaware, USA. Our family has travelled extensively worldwide.
We have stayed at amazing hotels in incredible places,
but even our young adult kid's jaws dropped when they walked into their rooms at Leopard Hills.
The staff is remarkable. Warm. Welcoming.
The food delicious and bountiful.
The true stars are the safari guides (shout out to Reid and Remember !!!!!).
So knowledgeable and they work so hard to make it the trip of a lifetime.
And it was !!!!!!!!
Thank you to all. We are truly appreciative

We stayed at the Leopard Hills Private game reserve at Sabi Sands near Kruger National Park from March 31st to April 3, 2014. It was truly the experience of a lifetime. The accommodations were luxurious and private, and the view of the watering hole from our suite was amazing. The two daily game drives were thrilling; the ranger and tracker were experienced, knowledgeable and had an uncanny ability to spot the various animals that live free in the park. I took over 1,500 photographs, many of them close-ups of lions, leopards, rhinos etc. The service was terrific and the food was fabulous. If you are only going to go to South Africa once this is the place you should go for your safari. It was expensive, but worth every rand!

Room Tip: All of the bungalows are excellent, as best we could tell.

My April 10-18 (2014) visit to Leopard Hills was magical! I’ve shown the 1500 pictures I took to friends and family, some of whom are making serious (impala-like) noises about planning their own visits.

Duncan and his extended family – Charleen, Sammy, Jacques, Steve (in short, everyone!) – made sure I felt welcome and made clear they were going to give me the perfect holiday. Duncan whistled up some elephants at the watering hole for tea time (see photo); lions paraded by at lunch and the nyala, warthog and elephant wandered at will in/around the camp. Jacques did something with oryx that was absolutely delicious – the food was marvelous at every meal (and in between). Special thanks to Friday, for making sure I didn’t get eaten by lions when going back to my suite after dark!

The lodge and suites are exactly as advertised on the website – beautifully kept, extremely comfortable and close to the action. In fact and in every aspect, what you see on the LH website is what you will get in person!

Hugo (ranger) and Abraham (tracker) were with me for my entire visit – a great team who showed me a great time. I’ve visited game reserves in Tanzania and Namibia, so I’ve seen the Big Five before. But not every day – or even twice a day – as was often the case in the Sabi Sands reserve. Not only did Hugo and Abraham deliver the animal kingdom, they put me front and center to watch leopards mating, a cheetah making a kill, a crocodile devouring an impala and lions trying (and failing) to catch warthog and impala. In between these natural wonders, they pointed out creatures great and small – dwarf mongoose, scorpion, chameleon, monitor lizard, butterflies and birds. At some point, they would head for an especially picturesque spot for Bushmix (coffee, hot chocolate and amarula) or an evening whiskey, and we’d stretch our legs while listening to hippo gurgles or hyena howls. The best thing about Hugo and Abraham was how clearly they love their work and the Bush and how happy they are to share it with the rest of us.

I loved my time at Leopard Hills and returning to see it in a different season is on my to-do list!

Room Tip: I stayed in Room 4, which has a view of the waterhole -- lovely! I happen to also know that Room 5...

From the moment you're met the staff at this game lodge make you feel so welcome and special. Fantastic place to be based to see all the amazing wildlife and the staff - from the ranger and tracker, the catering staff, receptionist, massage therapist, everyone - we're just brilliant. They all knew what they were doing and just made our stay there even more than we hoped for. Just a great experience and weeks after being back we're still talking about our time there and when we can go back.

Room Tip: We had room 8 which was a short walk to the bar and dining area and much more secluded than the othe...

I have been to most lodges in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve and this was my second visit to LH. What a fantastic lodge! Obviously the game viewing and location are both amazing but what makes this game lodge is the exceptional staff! They really are the best of the best!! Hugo is an amazing game ranger, smart, great sense of humour and a tremendous knowledge and passion for the bush. Heinrich manages everything to perfection and I really cant think of someone that is better suited for a job like this. Genuine nice guy and not the fake production you see at some lodges. Then there is Sam...what a guy!! Could not wait to go for meals and see his friendly face! He is a real gem in this team and I am sure many guests have been touched by his sincereness! Andrew(server) has been there for 10 years and he carries his "badge" of ten years service with pride! What a nice man! I am hooked now and cant wait for my third visit! This place deserves praise and all the success! Thanks for such a memorable stay!!
