We stayed at Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve for 3 nights at the recommendation of Australian author, Tony Park, who is expected to include a scene set here in his next African novel (to be released late 2014). And it was brilliant!
Our room, raised to look out over the view to the waterhole, was exceptional. It featured an outside shower and plunge pool on the veranda. From the inside bath, you could look through the glass doors and see the passing parade. In the the room were such things as a stocked bar fridge, electronic safe, iPod dock, Nespresso coffee machine and the usual robes, toiletries, etc. Wifi is available in the library. There's also a small gym and a gift shop.
The food was terrific - you will undoubtedly over-eat - and over-drink, unless you are remarkably disciplined. I'm not.
The game viewing was fabulous, thanks to the efforts Johan and Sipho. We spent time with white rhino, including a calf, lionesses and cubs, a large male lion, leopard, a couple of individual buffalo, and a couple of herds of elephants with playful calves - that's the "big five", along with the usual plains game.
We were driven there by road transfer organised by African Safari Adventures and flew out with Federal Airlines (FedAir) to Johannesburg's O R Tambo International airport in time to meet our Qantas departure to Australia. Both were well organised and efficient.
