Small and comfortable. Great food, simple menu, great Iced Tea!

The service was prompt and attentive. Very personable too.

Food was very good and brought out quickly. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is friendly. It was pouring rain when we were there so we didn't get to enjoy the beautiful little patio out back but it looks like a nice, relaxing place to enjoy a beer and dinner on a warm summer night.

We've been to this Ruidoso favorite three times now, and each time the food and service were excellent. The tortilla soup will warm you on a chilly day, the salsa is authentically spicy, the nachos, rellenos, and fajitas all were fresh, perfectly flavored, and extremely satisfying. We're from El Paso, so we know what good Mexican food is supposed to taste like. This is the real thing. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Anybody who doesn't like El Comal's food evidently doesn't know what Mexican food is. The food is made from fresh ingredients. The chile rellenos are some of the finest I've ever had. If you like authentic Mexican food, this is the place in Ruidoso to go.

First the good. Complementary salsa was good. We ordered a side of Guacamole, which was also good. Sat outside on the patio, it was beautiful afternoon and very pleasant. Service was prompt.

Now the bad. We ordered Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas. The server arrived with "here are your chicken enchiladas. They looked good, they were good, and the green sauce was spot on for the heat that I like. But, no chicken on the plates! (Is it a cultural thing in Ruidoso when you order chicken enchiladas that you get either none or a minuscule amount of chicken? (ala Lucy's)?) The chef (I assume) came out as we finished the meal and asked how we liked it. I replied "no pollo". He said, Oh, you wanted chicken? Next came the bill, no adjustment for the missing chicken, no nothing, nada.

Still looking for good new mexican food in Ruidoso.
