We have stayed at Storybook several times. The cabins are clean and have many amenities to suit your needs. In each cabin there is a journal to write about your visit. We loved reading other families experiences. Just a hop-skip and jump away from food and shops. The location is great for family walks.

Thank you for you hospitality, we will return for sure.
We travel from Juárez, México to Ruidoso al least one a year and this is the first trip for us in StoryBook Cabins, very easy to get there and great location for family walks.
Thanks!

Story book cabins offers an array of choices. Take the time to visit their website and look at the cabins to ensure a good choice based on your needs or wants. We purposely choose cabin 11. Remotely tucked down the road from the office between several houses. Rustic appearance, with all the necessary amenities (microwave, stove, refrigerator) including a wood burning fireplace (wood shed is right outside the front door-bring a metal hanger if you want to make some smores). We kept a fire going most of the weekend for both ambience and warmth.

A small but adequate gas BBQ on the porch with a little table for two if you want to enjoy the view and mountain air. Jacuzzi tub in the bedroom adjacent to the 3/4 bath with a small but efficient shower. (Plenty of towels are provided). The bed is a bit firm(no box spring) with a down duvet topper. Pillows and bedding are plenty and a DVD radio on one of the nightstands. (We brought our own pillows and extra blankets to ease the morning chill and food so we didn't have to leave... unless we wanted to). If you have time for a movie, the office provides DVD's at no charge or you can bring your own. (Use the input button on the TV remote to get to the proper channel). The TV is tucked in the armoire with a very comfortable couch and loveseat.

If you want time to enjoy each other and escape your regular routine and distractions... cabin 11 worked for us. There is a road nearby that had mild traffic but nothing the distracted from the overall setting. Wonderful weekend!

Our cabin (or home in the woods) was perfect for me, my husband and four grown children. The management is so friendly and helpful. I found a local grocery store to stock up and I even found a place for gluten-free bread for my daughter. My children skied a lot and I was there shuttle. We had a fire going every night and even won some money at the local casino. It was a long drive from Austin, but well worth it. Thank you Story Book, it has been wonderful.

Room Tip: This cabin is out of the way and quiet with large rooms.

After looking into several cabin rentals in the Historic Upper Canyon area in Ruidoso, NM, and having looked at them in person, I feel that Story Book Cabins' onsite cabins are absolutely gorgeous with so many custom details of fine wood working and rustic luxury. Not to mention the choices of other cabins in the area of which they offer as rental cabins also. Simply said, Story Book Cabins offers just about any style of cabin a person, family or small group could ever need and want with upscale, rustic charm!

We would just like say that we were very surprised by the way the cabin looked like. It was nicely cleaned, presentable and very peaceful outside. Our first impression when we walked in was "WOW". The office staff was friendly. I would highly recommend these cabins to anyone.

Room Tip: We stayed in cabin three which was very cozy and comfortable for me and my wife.

My fiancé and I travelled a couple hours north to get out of town for the weekend and celebrate my birthday and our anniversary. I had been longing for a snowy cabin experience for quite some time and this sated all of my needs.

Pros:
Ruidoso is just adorable
The wintery-weather (NM style) served as the perfect setting
Bottle of champagne on arrival
Good DVD library and info on the area in office
Perfectly cozy cabin, fantastically furnished, Jacuzzi in the room, full kitchen and the fireplace... sigh
Close to town for shopping/dining
If your fiancé is like mine, he will be tickled by the amount of "manly responsibilities" of faux cabin life (building fires, grilling) - mind you there is no wood chopping or hunting involved :)
Nice wildlife
Cute little extras like puzzles and decks of cards and blankets for covering your lap while rocking in the rocking chair

Cons:
We stayed in cabin 11 - the "more secluded cabin" but don't let this fool you - you are in a faux- log cabin neighborhood - in no way secluded.
You definitely get the sense of how you are in no way different from the bazillion other couples who have stayed and celebrated at Story book - must be tiresome for their staff to hear everyone's reasons for the stay but could they not feign interest?
Even the décor is faux-vintage

All in all, our stay was excellent and provided just what we were looking for and got us daydreaming about owning our own "real" cabin. Keep in mind that this is a storybook - not the real deal!
