Whispering Pine Cabins

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Whispering Pine Cabins - Misty Mountain. We went up
there first part of August and took all four of our grandchildren. Their ages are 11 to 16. We are
so grateful we got to spend quality time with our grandkids. It was a a four bedroom, three bath
cabin which was so convenient. The kitchen and living area was amazing. The kids also enjoyed
the hot tub and the walks. They are already talking about going next year. We are so blessed
and thankful. We loved the cabin it was like being at home.

I love the location of Whispering Pine Cabins. Located in the upper canyon area of Ruidoso, we were only minutes from all the attractions and restaurants. We had four adults in our party and stayed in the cabin called Coyote. This was a three bedroom, two bath cabin with a huge living area and nice kitchen. The cabin had a nice deck, the place to enjoy that morning coffee in the cool pines while listening to the river running through the canyon. The cabin was very clean and had a complete kitchen. Wi-Fi was available along with a large flat screen TV. The price was very reasonable and I would recommend Whispering Pine to anybody wanting a true mountain cabin experience. Will definitely stay there again!!

Room Tip: Whispering Pine Cabins has a great web site with detailed descriptions of their many cabins.

We really enjoyed our stay at Whispering Pine Cabins. The cabin was in nice shape and the office staff made it a nice experience. I especially like the floor plan of the Ponderosa cabin. Each bedroom had a sink and large mirror to get ready, that was nice with 4 adults getting ready in the morning.

We were traveling with my parents who are in their 80s, so we were looking for a place with 2 bedrooms with king-sized beds and no stairs. Riverway Cabin fit the bill perfectly. The cabin appeared to be recently painted and decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed for the few meals we cooked. The bathroom was very small and the toilet was crammed against the wall; the bathroom did not have a sink in it. There was a sink and mirror in each bedroom. There were plenty of towels and other supplies stashed throughout the cabin. As it was summertime, we did not have an opportunity to use the fireplace, but the air conditioner worked great! Although the cabin is located directly on the road, we were not bothered by traffic noise at night. The front porch had plenty of comfortable chairs where we could sit and watch the world pass by. Hummingbirds flocked to the feeder on the porch. Unfortunately we did not see any other wildlife during our stay. The management was extremely friendly and responsive to every request. This was a great vacation, and we will definitely be back!

Thank you for the kind words. We have been working very hard to insure every stay is memorable and it sounds like we succeeded. The Upper Canyon is the prime location for lodging as the evenings become very quiet even though the proximity to all attractions is one of it's main features. We look forward to seeing you back!

My wife and I stayed in the 1 room cabin called "acorn" and it was amazing!! It is within walking distance to the river, and still close enough to town. The management there where very helpful in accommodating in what ever you need. The view, location, and service was top of the line!!!

Stayed there for several nights just recently. Tried to get in to the Shadow Mountain Lodge Cabins (where we had previously stayed) but they were all booked. Shadow Mountain now owns Whispering Pines. They have done complete makeover on all 31 cabins. New Hardwood floors and all new cabinetry etc. We stayed in "Bears Way". Nice little cabin fairly close to the office. Pluses were: very quiet, bed was ok but a bit soft, staff was very helpful. We had smelled something like gas but it turned out to be sewer smell. We called the office and he came right over. Seems they had seated the toilet recently and the guy who did it, didn't do a very good job. Brad went to the h'ware store and got a new seal and in less than an hour had it installed. Smell was pretty much gone but not entirely. He even gave us a bottle of wine for our trouble. Could be the aroma lingered even though the problem was fixed. We were leaving the next day so I don't really know. Interior lighting wasn't very good. There was one lamp on one side of the bed but none on the other. Should be an easy fix. The bath was adequate... the shower was very tiny. Once you are in, it's difficult to turn around. As the title says A cabin is still just a cabin. Price was right $125/night. All in all a good experience. Best part of the trip was the new Italian restaurant in town. "Michael J's" on Mechem. Excellent food, great service, wonderful location but no wine (yet). He has only been open for a couple of months and doesn't have a liquor license.

Room Tip: Ask about the size of the shower before you book

Thanks for the feedback. We continue to improve our properties and lighting is an issue in this one. We are already working on that. Sorry that the high priced plumber did a bad install on the toilet. Glad to hear that Michaels is doing a good job. We , like you, can't wait for the wine list to appear!

Stayed here after my father recommend it and he was right on. We stayed in the Mountain View cabin on Chelsea Dr. and it was a large cabin that very easily accommodated our party of 7 with two king size beds, 2 hide-a-beds and 3 more couches (so we didn't have to fold up the hide-a-beds every day just to have a place to sit). Plenty of room for everyone to spread out and not be on top of each other.

Kitchen had nice equipment and dishes, utensils etc. were in pretty good shape. Bathrooms were clean! Our cabin had 3 TVs & wireless Internet access.

The owners were absolutely fantastic & very quick to address any questions/issues at the moment they arose.

If I had to try and find some cons with this particular cabin I'd say that the cabin is not new and there were signs of wear. The deck in the back was getting pretty worn and will not be long from needing repairs. At least from our cabin, the views from the cabin are not something you'll take pictures of.

Overall this is a place I would bring my children back to again. It was a wonderful home base to explore the Ruidoso and surrounding area.
