There are not enough words to describe this place. We stayed at Founders camp #3.The views are breath taking ,the food is to dye for.Service is awesome, and to top all this as it is not enough then you go out twice a day on Safari with the greatest ranger and trackers(ours Melvin and Milton M&M (PalaPala))Saw every animal on the book and spectacles such as mating Leopards and to many others to describe.I would go back anytime.

This is just a wonderful place. From the moment we arrived until we left service was superb, and the staff genuinely cares about the quality of your experience. Accomadations at Varty Camp are excellent, very comfortable, and with wonderful views to wake up to. The game drives are awesome, especially if you get Trevor, who made sure we saw it all. Getting the Big 5 was done on Day 1, and each succeeding drive was excellent in its own way. Food was great and well varied by Chef Anna.Coffee on the deck a true treat. If you want a first class comfortable safari where you see it all, this is the place to deliver it.

My husband and I chose our honeymoon destination based on the amazing reviews regarding Londolozi. We were very much looking forward to staying at this camp, it was our last stop, saving the best for last.

Our first day and night at Londolozi Varty Camp was definitely disappointing, the worst service and accommodation we have had in all our travels. The person in charge of the camp was leaving the next day on holiday, so she was too busy to welcome us. She did not give us the introductory speech in which they tell you the meal schedule, safari times, activities and tours available, other resources (spa, store, etc.), etc.

The next morning was even worse since we did not get any sleep. Our mattress was ridiculously broken. My husband chose to sleep on the bare floor, which was a better option than on the bed. As soon as we could, we told a staff member. They did not believe us, but some hours later told us they had verified the mattress was indeed damaged and changed it. They apologized briefly for the inconvenience.

During our honeymoon we had stayed at other lodges in Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique and South Africa. Londolozi Varty Camp was the most expensive of them all. We did not experience any poor service or accommodation problems at any other lodge except Londolozi.

It was a rough start. But I must emphasize that our guide (Gavin Rosenbaum) and our tracker (Life) were absolutely wonderful!! The best we have ever encountered! We definitely saw the Big 5 and more! Lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, rhinoceros, cheetahs, and most amazingly a baby impala being born in the wild!!! They were knowledgeable, experienced, and delightful persons. We also had a fabulous time with our safari companions (from South Africa, Canada and USA).

Overall, Londolozi was a camp of contrasts for us: the best guide, tracker and wildlife of our Southern Africa trip, but the worst regarding welcoming and orientation service and comfort. The camp is as beautiful as seen on their webpage though.

EXTRA INFORMATION REGARDING BOOKING:
Through the Londolozi webpage I sent a request for a personalized itinerary. I was contacted by an excellent travel agent and booked the whole honeymoon with her. Her name is Desiré Saayman from Icon Expeditions. Superb service and very experienced agent.

If you were to only have one safari experience in your life, make sure it is with Londolozi. The most enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fun rangers/staff you can imagine. They share this passion making you feel pampered yet comfortable. The rooms are brilliant, big, airy, private and detailed. The food was simple yet thoughtful and scrumptious. But the highlight is the game experience - you do see everything! The leopard sightings are unforgetable and the quite effort of the rangers and trackers to ensure you see these wonderful creatures is focused. I will definately want to revisit this peace of heaven again.

What a great trip! We loved our 4 days here. The highlight was certainly the game drives and the rangers and trackers that couldn't wait to share the experience with us. We saw everything up close and personal. Couldn't believe how close we were to lions, leopards, elephants, cape buffalo; rhinos, giraffes, hippos, etc. Indeed when we left to return to the airport, our car was held up by a large herd of cape buffalo crossing the road.
The staff in the restaurant and those cleaning rooms were attentive and friendly. The food was very good.
We had the Superior Chalet which I preferred over the standard. We saw the other camps as well. They are all nice. When we were planning the trip one of the reviews said why spend so much more per night on the other camps since you are seldom in your room with eyes open. I think they got it right and Varty being cheaper gets my nod. Regardless, you are not going to go wrong booking Londolozi. We were so appreciative of the experience.

Room Tip: Superior room at Varty was very quiet and further from main lodge.

As a family of four, we spent three nights at Londelozi, at Founders and Varty Camp. The rooms at both camps were spacious, beautifully decorated, and kept immaculate, with at least three visits by housekeeping per day. All staff, from the camp manager, assigned ranger and tracker, housekeeping and restaurant personnel, was fantastic, sensitive to our every need and Georgia and Tammy assisted us greatly in the care of one of our daughters who became a bit sick during our visit. The Varty Lodge common area is truly amazing, with many momentos from Londelozi's interesting history. Each day we went on two rides with our assigned ranger and tracker, Daniel and Like, who were both absolutely amazing and knowledgeable of all species, flora and fauna. Thanks to them, we saw a lot of different animals, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, zebras, giraffes, hippos, monkeys, and many different antilopes. From the Varty restaurant, while having tea and scones before the afternoon game ride, we observed a hippo grazing just below the deck, truly amazing. What we really take home from this visit is realizing that we all need to appreciate the wonders that Mother Earth provides, and to conserve and protect them so that our future generations can have the same fantastic experience. Congratulations to the Varty brothers Dave and John who have truly succedded in changing Londelozi from a game hunting camp to a game conservation camp, for all guests to enjoy, and that we should, as John Varty puts it " tread lightly on the earth".

We spent three nights at Varty Camp and had a huge, comfortable room, big veranda even a plunge pool was included. The pick up at the airstrip was very welcome.
The open Restaurant offers a great view to the river and we have seen big herd of elefants walking along the Sand River. During our first game drive on the same day, our Ranger Lucien and Tracker James spotted a leopard with a cub and as lucky we were, the vater of the cub joined them too. This was a great experience as we have done Safari's before but never seen a leopard. During the following drives we have seen some more leopoards and all the big fives. Londolozi is really an excellent place so see leopards. I have done a lot of research in the internet and found a website, which recommended Londolozi as one of the best places in Africa and it's true. At the end of our last game drive Lucien had a great surprise for us, he stopped at an excellent spot, we felt very spoiled. On the other side a single elefant bull walked along the stream, it was like in an ad. Lucien and James did an excellent job, they knew all the lions by their names. Due to all the excellent game drives I should not forget to mention the friendly staff, very good food, great massage in the spa and Lina (we called her queen of Londolozi) she gave us a tour through the village. Where we have seen the making of the giraffes which were used in your Christmas news letter. Looking forward to returning to Londolozi in the near future.

Room Tip: We were in room 9 which was excellent, but room 10 has the better view to the river, less trees in f...
