Where do I begin...from arrival to departure every aspect of our visit was unbelievable. Our guide Don and tracker Judas were both more than we could have ever expected. We felt like they had a personal interest in making sure we had the African experience of a life time. From the cold in the morning and warmth in the afternoon the staff at Londolozi were there to satisfy our every need. The room is clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We were both pleasantly surprised by the size of our room and the decor. In all of our travels we have never stayed anywhere that didn't have a room key. Why should we? It wasn't necessary. The food was exceptional and our laundry was done for free. The gift shop was a pleasant surprise, and reasonably priced.

Londolozi is rated as one of the top five private lodges in South Africa and it definitely lives up to the reputation. There are a total of 5 lodges within the Londolozi chain, all located next to each other. We stayed at the Founders, though briefly visited the others and am sure you won't be disappointed in any of them.

The deck area of the lodge is absolutely stunning! The views are incredible, in fact on one occasion we saw a crocodile basking in the sun very close to the deck (not to worry, the deck is higher up, so no chance of the crocodile getting there!). Most of the additional facilities, such as the curio shop, gym, yoga room are located in Varty camp, a 7 minute walk from Founders.

Rooms - We were in room 9 which is quite close to the deck area. This is convenient since it means you can walk down to the deck any time of the day without needing to call someone. The room itself is a little small yet very comfortable. Nice deck and viewing area. If there is anything to complain it would be that there isn't any curtain between the bathroom shower and the outdoors. Effectively, if you were taking a shower, and anyone would walk into the deck area they could see you showering. Definitely not convenient especially if you have children around. Overall though, a very comfortable room.

Food - this really is excellent and one of the best in Sabi Sands. The chef is meticulous is ensuring everyone gets exactly what they want. We had two children, and the chef went out of the way to prepare some fantastic Indian curries and naan bread for them. Apart from this the rack of lamb and game meat were excellent. Would also highly recommend the eggs benedict with gammon for breakfast - one of the best I have ever had!

Game viewing - you will not be disappointed at all. We saw 4 of the big 5 on our first drive. Londolozi is one of the largest reserves with nearly 18,000 hectares of private area - so really you are pretty much guaranteed to see it all.

Service - in one word EXQUISITE! After your first meal your waiter will always know what you like, what you don't. Whether it was still it sparkling water, which white wine variety, spicy or non spicy sauce, how well to cook the meat - they knew it all! It really felt very special and kudos to everyone for providing such a surreal experience.

In particular, the lodge manager, Tammy, was so helpful it was amazing. She really took our stay to a different level of comfort. My 6 years old daughter still remembers her and Londolozi has become her all time favourite all because of her. Thanks again Tammy for making it so special and memorable for us and particularly for my daughter.

All in all, one of the best is South Africa. Definitely expensive, but most definitely worth it.

Room Tip: Rooms 8 and 9 are a very short walk from the deck area.

We simply loved Londolozi! The service was amazing! Everyone was so nice. Garret was so welcoming and always available to help with anything. Our rangers were THE BEST! If you go, ask for Sandros and Axon. They are locals and know everything about the reserve. We saw all big 5 a few times each! The room was really nice! The only thing we could complain about was how cold our punge pool was. We would use it much more if it were heated. :( The spa was not really a spa. It was just a room with two massage beds. But our massages were THE BEST! We just loved it! All the guests were really nice which made our evenings a lot of fun! We made new friends with people from all over the world. Just one thing bothered me - how little they pay their staff and how basic their living grounds are. For the price we pay, they could afford a nicer living quarters for the staff.

I last visited Londolozi in 1994 and having just spent four days at Founders Camp, I can not understand what took me so long to return! It was a very special time and everyone made us feel so welcome. As Kiwis mixing with South Africans, naturally there was a lot of talk about the 2015 Rugby World Cup ... but teasing aside, we felt very at home with our fellow southern hemisphere friends. Our heartfelt thanks to Tammy and Garret who looked after us at home base, and to Sandros and Axon, who have to be the best rangers and trackers on the planet! We were first to spot the lion cubs one evening and first to sight their mother and father reunited the following day. We saw all the game, including the famous Leopards of Londolozi which the Varty family have championed for generations. The philosophy of Londolozi is based on conservation and respect for not only the animals, but for everyone working there. As John Varty said to me in 1994 "walk lightly on this earth". Very sage advice as we return to our urban jungle. As for the chalet, it was beautifully appointed with our own plunge pool overlooking the Sabi Sands river and completely private. We are already planning our next trip in September so looking forward to that very much.

Room Tip: Remember to take warm clothes for the morning and evening game drives

Future holiday plans are now simple....we book around our visit to Founders camp. This was our second trip to Founders, and we have just booked our third trip to Founders. Incredibly the atmosphere at this camp was even better than the exceptional experience we enjoyed on our first trip. The management team is exceptional (Cry and Tammy thank you) and we loved our ranger/tracker team: Ntsako and Bennet (big thanks from all of us...our 10 year old Mats will be disappointed if you guys don't look after us when we return in October!).

Sorry for those we didn't mention by name ......the whole team at Founders is very special.....thanks again!

As with many other posters here, I am not going to try to hit all of the superlatives that apply as the list is simply endless. The lodge, the staff, the rangers/guides, the accomodation, the service, and of course, the wildlife experience, are all top notch. I could not find fault with my stay.

This was my second time at Londolozi - I had stayed at Tree Camp about four years earlier on my first South African safari holiday and have been hooked since. I've been back each year to the Sabi Sands and have stayed at several other lodges in the Reserve - all were amazing in their own right - but none as special as Londolozi. The last two times to South Africa, Londolozi was fully booked in all camps so I chose other accommodation - and although my experiences were great - they just never measured up. After my stay this past October, I quickly went to work to book my next holiday and this time planned my travel around availability at Londolozi. Will be back to Varty Camp in mid August 2014!

The staff is nothing short of world class! They truly understand how deliver an amazing guest experience. Each and every person has a knack for making everyone feel special - and each day is an extraordinary experience. On this last trip, the Camp Manager arranged for a my friend and I to have a special lunch in the tree house on the river bed. They drove us out to the tree house, complete with lunch and a full bar spread, comfy chairs, binoculars, etc. - It was just amazing. . One day on our evening game ride, instead of the standard sundowner which are in-and-of-themselves are special, Duncan the Camp Manager had arranged for a special wine tasting for us in the bush. As an extra special treat, he arrange for us to have a wine tasting in the bush - complete with tree lighting, perfect nibbles and of course some very special South African wines. He took tome out of his day to participate as well.

I literally could go on and on. I didn't even mention the animals, but each and every game ride is jammed packed with interest. The ranger we had, Melvin, was exceptionally talented and contributed immensely to our holiday. The place is simply amazing and everyone should be lucky enough to visit and experience it.

Looking forward to August!

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad room. All the individual chalets are somewhat unique due to the na...
