Over and above our wildest dreams and beyond all expectations, the staff at Tintswalo were unbelievable. Fritz and Mpho made our experience a "once in a lifetime". Words cannot express our gratitude for showing us Africa as it should be - wild and beautiful. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you are looking for an experience that is sincere and "over the top" - Tintsalo should be your destination. Special thanks to Megan - you treated us royally.

Room Tip: We stayed in the "Presidential Suite" - Baines. It was outstanding. Upon returning to o...

This place is a must. I can't imagine a more perfect safari experience.
Our incredibly knowledgable guide was amazing, Patrick made the drives such a wonderful experience. We learned so much about the animals, the land, the weather, what is going on with the poaching of the Rhinos, he was informative and such a great funny guy. We saw so many animals I will not bore with a list. Our last day, as we were wrapping up, we got a call and rushed to a pride of lions, 22 of them all together, AMAZING!
All of the staff at the lodge was amazing. I was never want for anything. This place is so perfect, I really doubt that there is anything out there better, seriously, I am already planning my return.
In the group I went with, 2 people were returning for a second time to Tintswalo, I think that says it all, its perfect.

Stayed at the tintswalo manor house with a family of 10 and it was a great experience. Accommodation, staff, service, activities all were terrific. Having the house to ourselves was fantastic! Also, with young childeren (ages 7 & 10) it was nice to have the ability of the kids to play outside.

To anyone looking for the greatest safari experience in South Africa, you must stay at the Tintswalo Safari Lodge-Manyeleti reserve and ask for Fritz as your guide (and Mpho as your tracker). Fritz and his wife Ronel offer a first class safari experience both from the out of this world safari drives to the luxurious and friendly accommodations at the hotel. You will be treated like royalty and have the safari adventure of your life as Fritz and Mpho have the experience and knowledge to try and find everything you are hoping to see and more. Further, the food is first class, the setting is relaxed and outdoors, and you are able to enjoy at your own pace. I highly recommend that you add Tintswalo Safari Lodge to your SA experience.

My husband and I chose this lodge for our honeymoon based on the reviews on this site and the information on the hotel's website. Our expectations were far exceeded. The service is extremely personal and thoughtful, and the surroundings are beautiful. The best part was the little surprises - which I won't ruin for you here.

Our flight from Cape Town on SAA was delayed 9 hours (yes, 9 hours). Instead of landing at 2 pm, we got to Nelspruit at 10:00 (fly into Hoedspruit if at all possible. Much closer.) Our driver from Tintswalo waited at the airport and arranged to open the gate for us whenever we got there. (Note: the gates of Kruger close at 6pm. If you get in after that, there is no way to get into the park. Tintswalo is in a private game reserve with its own gate). After getting through the gate, we saw two lionesses sleeping on the dirt road. Great start!

The next morning, we were sitting on our private deck and an elephant appeared out of the bush. Elephants, water buffalo and kudu are common at the watering hole adjacent to the main house. Monkeys and baboons are ever-present and very clever - make sure to lock your doors. There are morning (6:30 am) and afternoon game drives. Our guides were outstanding. We saw all of the Big 5 and lots more. We stayed 6 nights, which we thought was perfect, although you could probably get everything in with 4 nights. We also asked to go on a bush walk, which was great and highly recommended.

In between game drives, food is plentiful. The chef (Johan) was incredible and gave us interesting, creative and delicious meals every time. We thought he could definitely rival the top NY chefs.

We had a 11:30 am flight out of Nelspruit, so instead of leaving very early (2 1/2 hour drive) we asked the lodge to arrange for a charter from the air strip on the property. The air strip is really just a clearing, and the smallest plane I've ever travelled on, but it was quick and convenient. We had a private breakfast while the rest of the guests were on a game drive and definitely worth it.

I can't recommend this lodge enough. The service is top notch and the suites provide total privacy. Not to mention there is great wildlife viewing from the deck alone. It was the perfect choice for our honeymoon.

Room Tip: The suites are amazing and completely private. We didn't see the Manor House.

Tintswalo has it all - rich wildlife, a beautiful setting, luxurious accommodations, great food and wine, a very accommodating staff, and outstanding guides and trackers. Also a spa if you just want to relax. Our guide, Darren, was superb not only on the big animals but also on the birds, of which we saw many beautiful species in our 4 days at Tintswalo. He's also an excellent wildlife photographer. This is a small lodge with the cottages well separated and designed for privacy. It is unfenced, so we had elephants brousing just below the main deck of the lodge and nyala grazing around our room. But a raised catwalk connecting all the buildings, well lighted at night, provides assurance against unwanted close encounters with reptiles or carnivores. You can't go wrong with Tintswalo!

My husband and I spent two nights at Tintswalo in between two other camps in the area. This camp is certainly right up there in terms of the quality of game viewing, location and food and service. We had wonderful game viewing thanks to the "A-Team" of Ranger Eric and Tracker Foster. Like other reviewers we greatly enjoyed our night drinks under the stars with our fellow guests and a very noisy group of travel company reps obviously making the most of the hospitality. The service, mainly thanks to Megan was friendly and faultless and the food was up there with the best we've had in a safari camp (and we've stayed at many camps). Every effort is made to give guests privacy in terms of eating dinner at night, and this is nice. I suppose the thing I'm less enthusiastic about was the actual accommodation. It is definitely a personal thing because I know many previous reviewers love it, but I don't really like the heavy colonial era style. The rooms are huge and fitted out really nicely in the colonial theme, down to the clawfoot bath and the wonderful old telephone on the desk, but it's just not my thing. Despite the room's size, I found it a bit dark and "stuffy" and the fact we couldn't have a window or door open for fresh air at night (without potentially letting in an unwanted visitor) made the room for us quite claustrophobic. I don't think i could stand it in summer. When on safari there is nothing better than lying tucked up in bed listening to the sounds of the bush. Both the other camps we stayed on the trip have mesh screens/doors so you can have this experience. But I do stress this is just a personal thing and really shouldn't reflect on the quality of the camp or the people who run it. Finally, the location and setting of the lodge is beautiful, looking out onto the riverbed with a waterhole that attracts a range of game. One night during dinner we were treated to a visit from a lion and two lioness who sat across the riverbed for some time.
