“Lions very near”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2009

Naledi is a small lodge, nicely located on a higher point of Balule reserve. From Naledi you have a wonderful view of the surrounds and a perfect impression of the bush vegetation.

The lodge is run by Kjell and family. Kim, his wife is responsible by the lovely decoration in the rooms and the three dining and staying rooms, full of Africa feelings and arts. She also sent us from the kitchen exquisite and tasty food after the game drive emotions.

Kjell, is also the Ranger and takes you two times a day so near as possible to the animals. Because of his determination and the infallibly indications of Primi, the Tracker, we had the luck (and also the scare) to see a couple of lions digging and catching a poor Warthog. The other night we made the unbelievable experience to observe from 5 meters distance, 2 big white rhinos. This intensive experience of proximity with the animals makes a big difference to the Krueger Park.

Naledi is also an excellent place to relax around the swimming pool and spend a day on the different observation decks from where you can see the animals in the near dry river and going to the water hole.

We stay there two nights. It’s great value for the price and we can surely recommended it.

We ended our honeymoon with a three night stay in the Naledi Bushcamp.
It was fantastic! Every now and then , you stumble upon a great find and this is one of them. Exclusive safari doesn't need to be expensive. Kjell and Kim who run Naledi proof this. The Bushcamp only accommodates for 6 people at a time which will guarantee almost total exclusivity. At the time of our stay we were the only guests, which made it even more special. The food is Michelin-star quality ( but plentiful !), all homemade meals made by Kim. Kjell is a great host.and very knowledgeable. He does the gamedrives together with Sydwell, the tracker. The two of them are the best trackers in Balule nature reserve. Balule is a beautiful nature reserve , and a safari - in my view - is much more special than in Kruger. There are no roads in Balule, so you basically go offroad the whole time to for game tracking. You will only see two or three other landrovers max. during a gamedrive which I think adds greatly to the ' Bush experience' . Balule has the big five and plenty of other game. We saw LOADS of animals. Couldn't find the leopard however... :-) Apart from that we saw the big five. The Naledi camp is beautifully situated and has a nice pool, viewing tower which watches over a water hole. It has a nice deck to relax, watch the game as it strolls by. The staff goes the extra mile to make you feel at home. We had a lovely stay and thank everybody at Naledi.

Our family of 6 including my father (age 77) and our 3 children ages 9, 13, 15yrs stayed here for a wonderful 2 nights. The owner Kjell arranged for transport from Johan. and to our next stop. He was extremely accomadating. Because there are only 2 units (one 2 BR and one single), we had the place to ourselves and could change times on game drives to suit our family. The rooms have nice decor. There is a nice pool and trampline for the kids and monkeys playing outside your door. There is an electric fence around the compound, so it is safe for everyone to walk between buildings, which is convenient. Kjell and his wife made us feel very welcome and even accomadated my husband's dietary restriction by making amazing Gluten free muffins and breads. All the food was terrific. The dining room is beautiful. The price was reasonable, we would recommend it to any family or couples who want a small safari experience. Very family friendly. Kjell is so enthusiastic while driving the safari vehicle that it adds to the fun. We saw elephants, giraffe, zebra, impalla, and did some serious 4 wheeling to catch up to a big male lion! Recommend combining this with a safari in another region to maximize your wildlife viewing experience, we went on to Ngala from here and it was a great combination.

Our stay at Naledi exceeded our expectations!!! We had two of the most beautiful days of our entire holiday in South Africa there.
Naledi can host up to 6 guests in total so everything is fully tailor made, and you feel it all the time!
The lodge is great, very good location on the top of a hill, spacious rooms with African style furniture, lovely bathroom with beautiful big showers. We loved the top deck from where we had a spectacular look and could see elephants, buffalos, impalas and giraffes coming to drink in the waterhole. We loved the dinner in the bush surrounded by torches, that we will never forget it!!!
We loved each of the game drives as well as the bush walk.
Kjell is a great ranger, a real expert on wild animals and passionate about what he does. We loved the fact that he was with us most of the time sharing with us his knowledge. Kim is an excellent cook, she also made special dishes for me due to my dietary requirements. Kjell and Kim made us feeling as if we were friends they had invited rather than guests.
Thank you Kjell and Kim!!! You made us feeling at home in South Africa!!!
We definitely recommend Naledi!

Naledi Bushcamp is an unbelievable nice and beautiful place. Kjell and Kim do everything to make you feel comfortable and you can totally relax. When you are sitting on the top deck looking over the reserve the rest of the world does not exist. We experienced the most glorious sunsets and sunrises on our game drives and experienced the thrill of close encounters with the big five. Big thanks to the bush team. Kim is an amazing cook, the food she cooked for us was out of this world. This was a particularly memorable weekend for Pieter and thanks for all the effort to make it so special. On the way to the camp giraffes crossed our way. Of course we had to
stop for our first pictures and spent some time with them. Kim and her friend Amy were already waiting with a refreshing drink to welcome us.
From the very first moment we arrived at Naledi we felt at home. Kim showed us around and we were almost speechless when we went up to the huge patio from where you have an awesome view over the bush. The food was outstanding!!! - prepared and presented with love by Kim. Our game drives were wonderful, interesting and unforgettable. We enjoyed every minute of it! Kjell is a passionate ranger who loves to show and share the beauty of the bush and its wild life with others. We learned a lot about the animals. Thank you Sydwell for trying so hard to find the lions!
Naledi is definitely a place where we'll come back for an other couple of days!!!!
Thank you Kim, Kjell and Keetah for sharing this awesome place with us! See you in 2011!

My husband and I were very impressed with Naledi, and were very sad to leave. The accommodation is beautiful, the food was perfect, and the game drives were long and very eventful during our 2 day stay. Both days we got the most amazing lion sightings, an unforgettable experience.

Kjell, Kim, Graig and Keetah provide amazing hospitality, the price is very reasonable and we will hope to return very soon.
