My Husband and I went to Drifters lodge for two nights and one day. In this short amount of time we had a lovely experience.

Our Guide Isaac spoke well and was very knowledge in his animal tracking. We where very luck to see a grope of lionesses and there cubs. The next morning we came across a group of elephants. The elephants i had wanted to see all along. Thank you so much we had a grate time.

The food was to die for! So out of the box you would never expect.

We stayed in the en-suited tented bedrooms. They where cosy and We enjoyed waking up and seeing the elephant foot prints and all the other animals that had walked past in the night.

Thank you so much for a lovely time while we where there. Olivia and Jesse

My wife Kathryn and I stayed 6 days in May. We were in one of the older style tent like cabins which we loved. They are being replaced by more modern units which are well appointed as well. All accommodation units have ensuites. The resort is set in a spectacular setting as well as overlooking an amazing wide sandy riverbed. During our entire stay we were spoiled rotten by a gorgeous couple Adrian and Kim who manage Drifters and overlook nothing. Our wish was their command and we were made to feel at home and very welcome at all times. The food here was 5 star as well, passionately prepared by James. They even serve sorbet between courses which is typical of the detail paid to everything. They even baked me a birthday cake! Prices for drinks was very reasonable and R50 ($5) took care of the washing. As for the Safaris, their resident guide and tracker Karl showed his skills in hunting us down the 'big 5' plus a host of other animals and birds. Meanwhile, back at the Lodge with that riverbed view, at times we had heards of Elephants meandering past along with the occasional Rhino or Water Buffalo. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Drifters Game Lodge without hesitation.

Room Tip: A moderate level of fitness required as their is a minimum of 50 stairs to the closest room (which i...

We stayed at the lodge for 6 nights and loved it. The new chalets are very comfortable, nicely decorated and have a beautiful view. Being 6 we got the two chalets that are very close to eachother, which was very nice and practical. An extra bed was put in each of the chalets to accommodate our kids. We saw an elephant and some impalas and zebras right next to the lodge! The cook James spoiled us with his his outstanding cooking, taking into account any dietary needs you may have. Kim, Adrian and Kristy were very helpful and looked after us well. Our kids were very welcome and their interests were taken seriously, which we appreciated a lot.

We saw a lot of animals during the game drives and enjoyed the experience of driving through the smallest roads in the reserve. The otherwise open jeep had a roof, which was protecting us against the sun. The places we stopped for morning coffee and sundowners were very beautiful!

Room Tip: Several guests that stayed in the tents mentioned the noise of frogs and monkeys keeping them awake...

We cannot speak highly enough of our experience staying at the Drifters Game Lodge. The hosts (Kim and Adrian) left you wanting for nothing ensuring guests needs and expectations were exceeded with the quiet decorum of "Mr Wilson". We stayed in the tents which were clean, tidy and serviced regularly. There are brand new lodgings available for those who are not so keen on the tent experience all with excellent views of the riverbed. We went on 2 game drives per day, enjoying morning teas and sundowners with a guide whose knowledge and stories were enjoyed by all the guests from three differend nationalities. We saw the big five during our stay and a chetah whose numbers are less than 250 in the Kruger now. Watching the elephants and other game wander down the riverbed while enjoying a drink by the pool in the hot sun is an expierence not to be missed. We have no hesitation in recommending this lodge.

This place is a gem,

Near Kruger National Park and right in the heart of game viewing country.
The place is run perfectly and nothing is too much of a problem.
The accommodation is in tents with full facilities. They are also constructing some new villas that are more modern but don't have in our opinion the same ambience as the tents.
The guides are top with a huge knowledge of the area and all the animals and flora.
We have stayed 4 days and only wish we had added another couple of days.
Must mention Isaac the guide and Adrian and Kim the Managers, they have made our stay very special.

The accommodation is full board and the food was excellent, They try and accommodate all tastes.

We are sad to be leaving tomorrow .

After being destroyed by flooding, Drifters has been rebuilt into a stunning and modern lodge offering luxurious accommodation, outstanding food and a warm welcome. The main lodge is metal and glass with views over the pool, deck and river (dried up during our visit), and accommodation is either in luxury tents or new glass cabins in the same style as the lodge. We stayed in the tents which were extremely warm and comfortable (fans for when it's warm, electric blankets for when it's not) and which had a novel outdoor shower. We visited in winter and having an outdoor shower overlooking the river really was something special (and not cold at all, with plenty of hot water available). Unfortunately we were only at Drifters for one night (which was a shame as it would have been great to spent a day on the deck watching the wildlife pass by) but we had two outstanding game drives with Isaac (where, amongst other things we saw cheetah and had a number of close up lion sightings) and an extremely interesting bush walk. The food was delicious and El and her team provided a warm, friendly and professional welcome. Drifters is well worth a visit, and I'd recommend staying at least two nights. I'm sorry that we didn't.

We arrived with great anticipation. The main building/reception area is being rebuilt, with no substitute area to replace this
Lots of building noise through the day
We were taken on 4 game drives with a guide who had only just arrived there, No tracker, and saw minimal game during all those game drives. ( one rabbit , a few impala and a giraffe) The guide had a poor command of the English language
There is a main train line running close by and the noise of the train which is constant day and night is only going to get worse over time

Room Tip: If you have to go here get a room overhanging the river
