It is a treat beyond words. We were a group of 25 and each of us were amazed beyond words at the Kapama experience. The hotel, especially the spa suites, were steeped in luxury and style. The meals were magnificent and menus fabulous. The staff and rangers were the best. The safaris were simply mind blowing.....we spotted the big 5 and much more. It's truly the jewel of Kruger.

Room Tip: The spa rooms were huge and the bathrooms were like palatial.

We were so impressed with our experience at Kapama River Lodge! First off - the level of service and friendly staff is exceptional! Almost too good to believe if you don't experience it for yourself!

We stayed in a standard room that is tastefully furnished, well serviced and the bathtub overlooking the African bush is just heavenly.

The cuisine is really good and beautifully presented, and they feed you so much and so often it's impossible to get a taste of everything.

The 2 game drives a day was out of this world, we got super close to the animals and got some unbelievable photos. I'm glad Kapama only allows 2 vehicles at a sighting at a time, this prevents overcrowding the animals and everyone gets the chance to get an upclose experience. Our ranger and tracker, Clive and Freddie, are both lovely guys. They were very knowledgeable and professional and took extra care to get to know each guest and the type of experience you are looking for. They made sure to stop for interesting bird sightings, photo opportunities and included us in the process of tracking animals. We had a very interesting leopard tracking mission our last morning... unfortunately we did't find the leopard, but that didn't take away from the exitement of the "story" unfolding in the tracks on the ground!

The spa is a definite must, such a relaxing environment!

We left (quite reluctantly) with an unforgettable bush experience, definitely going back for another visit soon!

we had a 2 day stay here and it was very nice .. the rooms were quite big , the bathrooms r a real luxury with bath tub facing the jungle ..their food was lavish and excellent .. do try antelope , its a real delicacy ..

our safaris were nice and well managed , the rangers were friendly and gave us lots of information about the wildlife ..

however i am dissapointed with the whole area , the concentration of the animals is very less .. you wont feel as if you are into real wilderness , we spotted lots of animals but their quantity was quite less .. maybe i have heard so much about safaris and was expecting something exaggerating .but i really wish they had more animals ..

My 4 day stay with Kapama was an extremely wonderful and unforgettable one.The Lodge is beautifully built in the midst of the reserve which gives you the real feel of the Jungle with the impalas and other deers roaming freely in there. The staff is very friendly. We are pure vegetarians. They made sure that -their chef prepared something Indian-vegetarian everyday although the lodge do not have Indian food on menu. Our ranger, Mr. Tinyoko, made sure that we had the best of the safari experience. He used to make an extra effort to show us the wild life closely. The stay was very pleasant and if i get a chance to go back for safaris in South Africa, i would choose Kapama River Lodge.

Room Tip: If you are travelling with children make sure you do not get a room towards the end of the lodge as...

First of all this is an all-inn resort so it has it's price. So if you are looking for something small scale stop reading. But if you like luxury and are willing to pay a price for it? This is you place. Rooms are extremely spacious and with all the comfort one could ask for. A small tip tho if you want wifi check your connection first. I ended up in a room with no reception forcing me to sit outside on the stairs. But hey I was on a vacation so didn't want to complain about wifi. But I am sure I would have gotten a different room if I would have complainted.
Gamedrives are great. Say 4 of the big 5 so can't complain. It feels a bit like a themepark if you have been to the krugerpark but then again it's big anough there to get lost I bet. great guides too. First guide got sick on day 2 but we were given an even better guide Jani. Great guide answering all our questions.
The food is buffet style. So if I have any comment this would be it. I am not the buffet kinda person so would have expected more from the food. But still it's all good quality. If you are not a peoples person just be aware you will be put on a table with other people and you will stick together thoughtout our stay. I got lucky and met great Dutch, Brazilian and people from Oman.
Use the spa no comments there great service as is the gym. Nobody ever uses is I guess as everyone is too busy relaxing. :)
So good value for money, bit of work on the food, great service. And if you leave and you have a flat tire they'll even help you change it. Been there...

We have been to South Africa for a two week trip with 5 couples. The Kapama River Lodge was definitely a highlight! We stayed there for a couple of nights to go on some safari tours. The whole resort is fabulous and the staff was always friendly and helpful! Our rooms were spacious and cosy with all necessary equipment to make our stay even more fantastic. There were meals all day, before the first tour and after, than lunch and tea and dinner and snacks...all so yummy. Therefore, the only negative point is that you will absolutely gain some weight as the meals are above excellent :) We saw so many wild animals and the guides explained us the nature, so we learned a lot while enjoying this amazing country. The Kapama Wellness Centre is one of the best spas I have ever seen! The location as well as the design is breathtaking; treatments there become even more relaxing keeping in mind where you are. We highly recommend the Kapama River Lodge for groups as well as for families travelling with children. This Lodge should at least be rated as a 5 star plus!
