Kapama Southern Camp
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 29 November 2013

We stayed at the Kapama Southern Camp for three nights. I cannot say enough good things about our game drives. Garry was our guide and Richard our tracker. The knowledge and respect they showed for the wildlife was amazing. We saw the Big Five....several times! And, we never tired of Garry's commentary. The lodge is very comfortable. The food good, and the entire staff is warm and friendly. When the new rooms are open along with the gym, library, and spa, it will truly be a luxury property.

My party was booked at this hotel, due to our original location being under construction. I was totally and utterly amazed by this property. This was my first Safari, so I didn't know what to expect. My initial thought was that we would be staying in tents, but I couldn't have asked for more. My party and I were treated like royalty. With 3 full meals, morning tea and afternoon tea service, I could have stayed here for a month. The accommodations were modern and sleek.

The high light for the stay for me was the elephant ride that we took on the property. The only thing I would warn travelers about is the bugs. They get very activate during the early morning and at night time. Make sure to bring lots of bug spray an deet.

This was our second trip to Kapama. The first being at the River Lodge a couple years ago. We requested Richard the ranger again and yet again he didn't disappoint at all. We saw the big on the 4 game drives we went on and loads more to boot.

Being from South Africa originally I wanted my fiancés parents to experience a little bit of South African wildlife and they were not disappointed at all. They said they would go back in a heart beat.

I cannot recommend Kapama highly enough no matter what lodge you are staying at. I will be visiting again the near future.

We stayed at the Kapama Southern Camp for 3 nights so we did 6 safaries. The safaries we did with ranger Tim and tracker Muxi were super. They took all the time, and Tim educated us during the safaries with a lot of knowledge about the animals and the beautifull birds. Apart from that he had a good sense of humor!!

The staff were very kind. The only thing they should not do is to remove your plate as soon as you have finished yor plate but before everyone else at the same table has finished. I am sure they mean well though.

We had a suite (no. 15) which was verry luxurious. We did see the new suites with a private pool they were busy getting ready. Next time we will book one of those!!

We had an excellent stay in kapama Southern camp! It is a very luxury accommodation. The design of the rooms and restaurant is amazing. And our game drives were perfect. Mike and Bryan (our rangers) did a very good job. We saw four of the big five during our 3 nights stay. And ofcourse a lot of other different species. All staff were friendly. Even though it cost a lot of money, It is really worth it

We stayed at Kapama for 3 nights in September and went on 6 game drives (approx 3 hours each). I think this was the perfect amount of time to spend here, one day less wouldn't have felt like enough. We saw lots of game on each drive, the only one of the Big Five that we missed was the leopard. Our driver Richard was very knowledgeable and made sure we had a wonderful experience. Everyone we met at Kapama was very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend a visit here!

Saw the big 5. The guide went to great lengths to get us right in amongst the wildlife. So much more than we hoped for. Staff could not do enough for us. The grounds, rooms, food and facilities were all top.
So close to the animals, they were almost within touching distance. My best shot, below.
