“Amazing lodge, fabulous food”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

We have just returned from our fourth visit to this amazing lodge and once again had a fantastic time.
Dennis the camp manager always goes out of his way to spoil us even driving miles to get my son mangoes. Our butler David was the best butler we have ever had, he was attentive but unobtrusive, always laughing and smiling and our glasses were never empty, even when we were up chatting by the fire late at night he was still there looking after us with a smile.
The food has improved dramatically since our last visit and Grimand the chef took excellent care of us even making us sticky rib pizza cause we didn't feel like the food on the lunch time menu. He went out of his way to make our favorite foods like Kudu and sticky ribs and Greek lamb koftas. He spent ages typing out his recipes for me.
The sightings around tented camp are amazing and in one day we saw two different packs of wild dogs including one pack kill an impala, was amazing.
The tents are really luxurious and my only gripe is the very uncomfortable chairs on the tents decks but apparently they will be changing that soon. Tents have underfloor heating and AC and a nice big bath and outdoor shower. Tea is brought to your tent in the morning by the very friendly security guards when they wake you up.
Overall a very well run camp with super friendly staff and delicious food, fantastic game and we will be back.

An awesome experience. Vastly better than the two other &Beyond properties we stayed at on this trip. Impeccable "tents", superlative food (the best meals were the best we ate in SA; and we visited La Colombe, The Tasting Room, etc..). A much wilder experience than Sabi Sands but all better for it. Derek is a phenomenal guide and it's a privilege to be guided by someone local to the preserve. Only negative was that the game was sparse compared to Sabi Sands, but the far lower density of visitors on the reserve made up for it; you would rarely see another truck during a game drive, and there was none of the "lines" for sightings that you had at Sabi Sands. Besides, in 3 days we saw all the animals we could've wanted, including a spectacular wild dog kill. I'm a picky customer, and I strongly recommend this camp.

Ngala Tented Camp was truly amazing. From the unbelievably natural and wild setting, seeing animals in their real habitat, the lure and excitement of finding them (which we did!!) all surrounded by knowledgeable staff that were trustworthy, kind, and a+ service. The 'tents' allow you to experience the bush in full luxury. The food and wines are fantastic, and the intimate community and property is tough to beat. Go go go!

Last month we stayed at the Ngala tented camp....firstly the tents are so beautiful they could hardly be called tents. Very luxurious with every amenity. The staff are fabulous....very attentive, The food amazing. We just loved the whole experience. I could not recommend Ngala Tented camp highly enough for an African safari adventure. Our Ranger Derrik was so knowledgeable regarding every animal and bird we saw on the safaris in the morning and afternoon we felt we learned alot along the way.we will definately be back for another visit.

Room Tip: We had tent 3 which was a bit more secluded than the others. All looked great. our daughters had ten...

Ngala Tented Camp is a real gem. As with some others, I initially had my doubts about staying in a tented camp. However, the "tents" are quite luxurious (they have A/C) and extremely comfortable. Moreover, due to its small size (nine units), guest here get a much more exclusive experience than those that stay in the much larger Ngala Lodge. Moreover, Ngala Tented Camp is in the heart of the reserve, while the Lodge is at the boundary of the reserve, meaning that safaris there must traverse the same terrain every day, coming and going. The staff were incredibly friendly (especially David and our guide Steven), and our tracker Adam is one of the best I've seen after multiple safaris in Africa.

The food is very nice and of a high quality, with lots of it! The tents are quite private, but some have better views than others. Unlike some other properties, there are no personal "plunge" pools associated with each tent, but there is an infinity pool overlooking the river.

We initially were a little bit disappointed when we learned that we needed to stay in the "tented camp" because the main camp was fully booked.
To cut a long story short: The best accomodation we have had in our 2 years stay in Southern Africa.
Just imagine coming back from a fantastic game drive whatching a leopard chasing away a cheetah from his kill and him being chasen away by some hyenas arriving in the camp and finding yout bathtube filled with a warm foam bath and some Drinks at the edge of the tube.

Later on enjoing a high end Food in the middle of the bush. And rest in a min. 30 sqm "tent" on Mahagoni floor including a mini bar, superb lights and a beatiful bathroom.

Here we have in my opinion the best of the best. The most comfortable "tents" set in the most idle setting. Run by a first class staff of happy smiling enthusiastic people. Barney and Adam were stars in the tracking field (how many guests see a pride of lions and 5 different leopards on one single morning game drive all by 8.30am). Would recomment Ngala Tented to anyone.
