Luxury tented camp in beautiful setting with very friendly and professional staff. Fantastic food and game rides. Saw the big 5 within 24 hours of arriving and then explored for cheetah and other more elusive animals.

We loved both of the &Beyond properties where we stayed around Kruger but Ngala Tented Camp felt more in-the-wild. Highly recommended.

I've been to this place several years ago, and wanted to go back as it was magical. Now that they refurbished, it looks even better. I never thought that was possible! Not only the staff is great, food is amazing and the rooms are the best. All the tents have outdoor showers, air condition, mini bar with all one can think of. Not to mention the wildlife! What an amazing place to spend 4 to 5 days.

Room Tip: Any tent is great. They all have a nice view.

Me and two friends stayed in the lodge during a safari booked through Intrepid Tours. We had heard this was the "bump" lodge - the one the other Intrepid group were staying at was apparently full so we got bumped to this lodge - I am so glad we did. The entire team were amazing, and made so many personal touches and the team were so friendly. They remembered names and always asked how everything was, packed lunches for our safari and blankets for the cold open car trip at 5am. They looked after us there and the accomodation was brilliant. The tents were great - "glamping" style and the food prepared was amazing. We had a traditional South African BBQ which was so tasty. All in all an amazing place to stay, I am so glad we got allocated Ngala!

Anyone thinking of going to South Africa for a safari should definitely bring their search here. This is the most amazing place on the planet. The ambiance, atmosphere and staff made this experience the trip of a lifetime. Being out in the bush and being around the staff made for the most amazing thing I've had the pleasure of doing. Accommodations are beyond the stretch of the imagination. The food is gourmet and service is one of a kind. Service with a smile doesn't even begin to cover it. I can't wait to come back here for longer. I can guarantee you won't want to leave! Let the Africa bug bite you and keep you here!!!

Room Tip: They aren't rooms, they are tents but the best tents in the world!

We stayed at Ngala Tented for 3 nights in mid-August (10-13), and loved every second. I had visited a different &Beyond property in the past and was well aware of the high quality these lodges provide, but our stay here was even more outstanding than I had expected. No detail goes unnoticed from the time you arrive until you depart, and the staff does a fantastic job at making you feel comfortable and valued. It's an intimate camp with only 9 tents and a very neat main lodge area. Everyone, from managers Zenae and Francois, to our butler, Richard, security man Decide, and of course our ranger and tracker were extremely personable, friendly, and knowledgeable. The tents are clean, private, and cozy with a gorgeous outdoor shower area as well as an indoor bath set against a dramatically-lit stone wall. The tents never were cold seeing as there is a heat/ac unit, but we seldom used it because the electric blankets were perfect. When returning from the evening game drive and after dinner, the blankets were already on and warm, which was an awesome way to end the day.

The food is outstanding. Chef Oscar does an amazing job with each meal and the food certainly is worthy of a Michelin rating. He personally explains his meals to you every night as well, which is a great touch. Breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are all in the open-air dining area, so the setting adds to an already top-notch dining experience. My personal favorite was the Kudu steak, and the food here was by far the best we had on our trip to SA.

The game drives were outstanding. The ranger/tracker duo of Lee-Anne and Richard made our drives exciting and we found ourselves very excited before every drive. Richard's ability/skill and expertise is fascinating to watch as he tracks down animals. Lee-Anne's passion for the bush is contagious and she never failed to explain any and every detail of animal life we came across. Even while we're sitting at one animal sighting/kill for a longer period of time, she constantly had things to say and point out, and there was never a moment when we had to ask her to explain things like we had to do at other (non-&Beyond) bush lodges. She loved answering questions and did so eagerly, and the entire game drive was fun and lively. She's also an expert in alerting for branches as you're driving through the bush! Dylan and Derrick seemed equally impressive, but you're in for a treat if you have Lee-Anne & Richard. They're phenomenal. In the 3 days we were there, we saw everything except for a Rhino (which was just about certain on the next drive after we had left). In fact, we saw 21 lions in one game drive as well as a Leopard in a tree with his Cheetah kill. Spectacular! Also, be sure you try the Bush Special during the morning drive's coffee stop. It's amazing.

There is a small spa there on the property, next to the pool, and we did get massages. They too were outstanding and were on the level of any top spa you can name. They're definitely recommended.

This lodge provides an awesome bush lodge feel. The night atmosphere around the main lodge is exactly what you'd dream about for a night in the bush. Return from the night game drive and the staff is ready to pour your favorite drink for pre-dinner drinks around a roaring fire on comfortable couches. Then you'd sit down to dinner in the open-air dining area overlooking the Timbavati with fires in the fireplaces. If you're on the fence at all, definitely stay here, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Tents 7-9 are all river front and seem a little more private than 1-6.

This camp provided a truly excellent start to our South African safari experience. Stayed in Tent #7. Much of the camp had been damaged by 2012 floods, and when rebuilt, they added three new rooms – 6, 7, and 8 – that are all located along the banks of the Timbavati River (I believe Room #1 is the other room with river view). The room had everything I could ask for and is accurately described by the &Beyond website. One of the nice things available was the well-positioned outlets to make re-charging batteries easy – at desk level and not on the floor. A concern I had, that turned out not to be an issue, was adequate warmth in the room during the cold nights – turns out the heavy drapes adequately prevent the warm air produced by the heater from escaping. The shower is located outside, with plenty of privacy – but if too cold outside, then you can enjoy a bath indoors. The provided slippers were a great addition to keep feet warm when walking around the tent during the night and early morning. The toilet was in its own room. The staff were wonderful and every request was accommodated with a smile - we couldn't have asked more from Richard, our butler. Meals were excellent, varied and their presentation wonderful. Our ranger was Derrick and tracker was Jonas – a truly great team. I’ve been on an annual safari since 2000 and interacted with numerous rangers and trackers during these times – these two were among the absolute best. Game viewing was good with multiple sightings of lion, as well as a great sighting of wild dogs, hyena and average sightings of leopard. Elephant, white rhino, and other game were seen as well. You never felt rushed nor crowded at a sighting. While I’m not certain, it appears that only six guests are seated in each vehicle, not nine like some camps – definitely something worth checking with your travel agent before making your reservation.
