“An Unforgettable Safari Experience and Much More”
Reviewed 13 April 2014

I stayed at. Kambaku with a group of friends two weeks ago and had the perfect safari experience in a perfect setting. The lodge is intimate and well appointed with lovely rooms and great gathering places, whether the pool, the great room, the Library or the dining spaces. David, the manager, is a host par excellence and he made mealtime a delight, choosing a different setting each night for the enjoyment of the delicious food. The game drives were astonishing. Our ranger, Steve, and his tracker Rifos, had an amazing understanding of the bush and it's inhabitants. We saw great game, and birds, and we learned even more. This was not my first safari but it was my best safari experience. Hinda B.

Room Tip: My room overlooked the watering hole and was great.

This is was our second trip to South Africa and our first stay at Kambaku. WOW! Staff, food, game drives, EVERYTHING about this place is amazing. Special thanks to David Hollingsworth, the best host you could ever hope for. Neil, our ranger and Eric, our tracker were so much fun and so knowledgeable of everything. And the rest of them...smiles and genuine interest in each other and all of us lucky guests.

Excellent staff, guides, food, and rooms. David, the manager, is a great host. Eight friends had a perfect introduction to safari adventures here. The lodge and rooms are very well decorated so it is a relaxing experience. I would love to visit Kambaku again . It was a terrific couple of days. Ann Norwood

The Kambaku Lodge was recommended by a travel agent to have a long weekend with safari experience. It was great. Both the ranger, Neil and the tracker Eric were professionals with exceptional knowledge of the area and the animals. We saw the big five in just three drives and could get very close to them still feeling safe... it was fantastic.
David manages this lodge in such a professional manner that provided us with the necessary attention from the very first minute of arrival to departure. Good and safe food (for me travelling around the world and alreday visited 70+ countries it became a very important issue) I will recommend this lodge to my friends and hope to come back one day...
Thanks David, Neil, Eric and the staff

As a first time safari guest i was not sure what to expect BUT the whole experience was wonderful from arrival to departure. Knowing where to start is difficult as the accommodation, food and staff were all equally fantastic and likewise the game drives each unique in their experiences.
The attention to detail, the little touches, such as the greeting from smiling staff after the evening drives greeting you with warm flannels, sherry and oil lamps burning in the dark created the most wonderful sense of security and pleasure.
Whether lucky or not, to have seen the Big Five within our first two drives was so special with amazing close up and safe wildlife experiences. I suspect it was more down to the fantastic skills of Eric the tracker and Neil (Ranger) that really were responsible as the area is a massive open space and finding any animals is no certainty, but they came up trumps on every drive!
The passion and dedication to duty to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all the guests is led by David - an Englishman! His love of the area and desire to ensure all guest have a great time is second to none, long may he stay as he gives much confidence to guests with concerns about all sorts of issues!
If we could we would be back today but will return at another time of the year to experience life in the bush in a different season.
Forget wifi and mobile whilst you are their enjoy and immerse yourself in nature as intended from the stunning butterflies, birds and naughty warthogs to the bigger animals!
impossible to fault this stunning experience! thank you to the team for a wonderful few days.

Room Tip: not necessary - all are individual and comfortable

Kambaku Safari Lodge is situated in the Timbavati Game Reserve in the greater Krugar National Park. The Staff at Kambaku were most welcoming and friendly. The lodges were very comfortable and all the meals were delicious. the safaris were at dawn and dusk for 3 or 4 hours. The tracker and ranger were exceptionally knowledgeable and we saw all 5 of the big game including the white lion and many other fantastic animals and birds. It was a fabulous trip!
We would recommend 4 or 5 days.

PLEASE NOTE - - I sent a review this morning and by MISTAKE I ticked the wrong rating !! PLEASE, PLEASE change this as it was all EXCELLENT.
I have found it impossible to contact you to change this . Could you please acknowledge that you have received this and changed it?

Just got back to Norway after a wonderful vacation in South Africa with a group of friends. We started off our holiday with three unforgettable days in The African Bush staying at the Kambuku Safari Lodge. We got to know the very hospitable, friendly staff, experience some exciting game drives and we got to see the African wildlife in its natural habitat. Kambuku Safari lodge can offer high quality bungalows, genuine and friendly staff, exciting game drives and amazing food in a unique setting. I can strongly recommend this place. /Joakim
