“Great peaceful retreat”
Reviewed 7 November 2013 via mobile

Hanglip lodge is situated on the Entabeni reserve . There are numerous lodges on the reserve and this is sold as a 5 star lodge . The rooms are spacious with fire places large soaking tub and a large bathroom area . All rooms overlook the dam and the Waterberg mountains . It's quite common to have a variety of wildlife stroll past your room . The reserve is billed as a big 5 reserve on our stay we saw 3 of the big 5 . Rangers Shaun & Trevor were excellent . This is definately not a place you would only want to spend one night as you would not get a feel for this property .

This place was truly outstanding in every way. The location and the game drives were amazing. Being able to sit on the private porch and watch animals is truly an experience.

The accommodations were very roomy and had everything we needed. Just be careful putting suitcases on the floor. Creepy-crawly things can get into them.

The staff could not have been any nicer or more accommodating. The rangers were very knowledgeable and made the game drives really fun. The food was really good, however the coffee was not. Bring coffee packets if you're picky.

The only thing I did not like very much was the helicopter ride over the reserve. It was pretty expensive ($275) and I didn't think it was worth it. I really wanted to see the reserve, terrain, and animals from the air. Instead, it felt more like an adventure ride to me, in and out of hills and valleys. Instead of enjoying the view below, I was trying to keep my breakfast down.

Make sure to look up at the sky at night. The stars are truly amazing. While looking, listen to the sounds of the animals around. So cool!

Room Tip: All cabins are very close. You can't walk by yourself at night, so it really doesn't matter...

This is an amazing property in the midst of the Entabeni Game Reserve. As you look out your window you will see animals of all kinds. We saw giraffes walking by, wildebeest grazing, and young lions on the hunt. The room was so nice, and the staff was incredible. Trevor was our game ranger, and he was so knowledgeable and personable. The kitchen staff created really good meals and also came out to sing to us. We were there only two nights, but wanted to stay for a week. If you can swing getting here do not hesitate. We were on a tour, but this location is good for all.

What a fantastic place, at less than 3 hours drive from Johannesburg; a great resort where in 3 game drives I saw much more animals than anytime before in this span of time. Elephants, leopards, cheteas, impalas, wildebeest, giraffe, hypo's, rhino's, white beers, they just were to be seen at very vlosse distance. The jeeps are very confortable and the rangers very knowledgeable with a good eye to spot the animals. They care for the nature too. The lodge is a delight: a lot of space, good beds, a lovely bathroom and nice balcony. From that you have a beautiful view of the mountains. The food was awesome, what a good cooks. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. My next visit to a wildpark will be again to Entabeni.

Room Tip: alll loges are excellent.

These individual lodges were great as was the evening meals allowing to taste some African cuisine. We saw 4 of the big 5 on our morning and afternoon safaris, sadly the elusive leopard was not spotted! The rangers were fun and incredibly knowledgeable and the scenery was breathtaking. We were able to organise a hot air balloon ride with Bill Harrop's Original Balloon Safari which was amazing.

Spent a day at Hangklip! What a place! Great service, great food, awesome room, and ask for Trevor to take you on a game drive! We took an evening and morning game drive and saw lion, elephant, rhino and various antelope. Trevor is an amazing guide!

We spent 2 nights in Entabeni Hanglip Mountain Lodge. The accommodation was great, food was great and we did wonderful Safari Game Drives! The Ranger Sean was great too! Only positive memories! We saw a lot of animals: leons, rhinos, cheetahs, wildebeest, impala, niala, hypo's, croco's, elephants... most of the animals were on very close distance! The lodges are romantic with greats views! Certainly a place to come back!!! We loved it!!!
