4 adults and 4 teenagers spent 1 night here while we where "speed dating" SA during 12 days.
Buffalo have a fantastic location, nice and freindly staff, exellent guides and fantastic rooms with a view that is breathtaking.
During our 2 game drives we manage to see "one in a million" events. A bit of luck but mostly thank´s to Israel, our fantastic guide.
Can warm recommend this place, you will not be disapointed.

We spent on night at the Buffalo Ridge Lodge after a conference in Gaborone. It was an easy drive from Botswana and the border crossing was easy. We arrived at the Lodge which is beautiful and the rooms are luxurious. It's great how they are separate lodges and the outdoor showers are a nice touch. The game drives were well done and we saw lots of amazing animals. The cheetah were my favorite.

We just loved Madikwe and Buffalo Ridge Lodge. Two sisters travelling together, we were a bit apprehensive about the Game drives - but Buffalo Ridge exceeded our expectations. Lazarus is the best - a great guide - he makes every effort to guarantee an exhilarating fantastic experience - he is very knowledgeable and you feel safe with him. Within one hour of arriving at the lodge we were on a game drive viewing an adult male lion having a feed - which was followed by viewings of elephants, buffalo and Cheetahs. We had three days there and each drive was different and every one truly amazing. We saw four of the big five - missed the leopard by minutes but we did wee the Cheetahs twice and the very rare wild dogs. The atmosphere of the lodge is perfect very comfortable but with a rustic edge that feels just right. The food is very good as is the service. It's good to make an ethical choice, so the community owned aspect of Buffalo Ridge Lodge makes it the right place to choose - tell everyone !!

Room Tip: The lodges are all beautiful - number 8 is the furthest from the main building with a view right ove...

Where do I start..... Two friends and I were very fortunate to have a two night stay here at Buffalo Ridge approximately 2 weeks ago. From the moment we arrived to the day of our departure we were treated with the upmost courtesy.... Our fruit cocktail on our arrival (thank you Grace) was just the start of what can only be described as an awesome experience. Whilst we were not lucky to see the Big 5 on our visit..... We did have a very, very close encounter with a Bull Elephant on Musth and got to see The Bachelor Cheetah boys - all four of them, not once but twice. I'm sure our encounter with the Elephant will be forever etched in our guide Lazarus' memory who re-named the spot, 'Lisa's Track' - my friends first up close and personal with an Ele!! What she saw anyway :)

We cannot thank our guides, Israel and Lazarus enough for going out of their way to search for shy lions and rhinos who didn't want to show themselves to us. We must have covered the whole of the reserve trying to locate them - was it not for the fact it was our last day, I'm sure they would have carried on searching for us. Their knowledge was second to none and they never tired of the three English girls asking them tons of questions about their encounters with animals. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the people that worked at Buffalo Ridge and the best part is that this is a Lodge that is part ran and staffed by the local community.

There is not one single aspect of our stay that I can criticise..... The food was exquisite and plentiful (compliments to the chef for all of our meals), our lodge was a dream and the main lodge was a place to completely relax between our early morning and late afternoon game drives. Oh and not forgetting the sundowner drinks...... Watching the sun going down with a drink in your hand... Not quite knowing if anything is hiding in the bushes!!!

The only regret...... Not being able to stay for longer. Take this advice from somebody who is very difficult to please...... Buffalo Ridge should be included on anybodies bucket list.

I stayed with two friends this month for 2 nights. We had the most amazing time wish ,we had arranged to stay for a couple of more nights.
The staff, accommodation and food all received top marks.
The game drives fantastic, Game drivers shared all of their knowledge with us and gave us confidence when we care up close and personal with Elephants and Cheetah.
This resort and all it has to offer is a 'must do' on anyone's bucket list!

We went to Buffalo Ridge as a group of 5 friends for a short weekend trip. Some of us had been on safari before but three in our group had their first game drives ever at Madikwe. This is a great place to see all the animals in just 2 days! Elephant herds, lion prides, cheetah families, a rhino, loads of zebra and giraffes. Sometimes the water buffalo do come up to a little watering hole below the main deck of the lodge. The lodge itself was pretty standard lodge safari. Bed and shower were both fine for a night or two. Food was good but not great--that is the part that could be improved on, we had much better food at other lodges around SA and Botswana.

The Lodge is a nice and comfortable lodge. Nothing upmarket, but comfortable and well serviced. The guides are professionals and kow their area very well. We have had seen the Big Five within the first two hours; amazing for that small territory but true. Madikwe is a Little bit commercial if it is compared to huge ame ressorts like private game parks at Kruger National Park or Chobe in Botswana. But it is only three hours away from Johannesburg, Close to Botswana border and no private cars ae allowed in that area. I would absolutely recommend Madikwe as well as the Buffalo Ridge Hotel.

We were very lucky to get invited to the Managers wedding ceremony in the nearby village. An unforgettable experience.
