“A gem in the desert”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

This place has all the charm of New Mexico with none of the ugliness of the city. The views of El Paso are stunning, the desert air is refreshing, and the courtyard is so relaxing with a running fouintain and rocking chairs to sit and sip your morning coffee in. As an El Paso native, Casa de Suenos held all of the magic of the desert that I have missed so much since moving away. It is well worth the drive and Marlene was a fabulous hostess!

Room Tip: The Pajaritos room has an east-facing private patio that is cooler in the evenings and has a view of...

Okay...this was just a charming little hacienda with the most charming hosts! Marlene is so friendly and accommodating making the hospitality top notch. Great breakfast, too! Marlene cooks to your needs.
The room was nicely appointed and comfy, not luxurious. But it wasn't billed at a luxury price so that was just fine. And the patio and yard are very lovely! Quiet and out of the way...just the way we like it!
And the views of the night sky and El Paso are breathtaking!

This was my second stay at Casa de Suenos just outside of El Paso and it was even better this time. Another reviewer mentioned the coffee. What is up with that? Is Marlene's coffee really that good or it is the surroundings? Probably both. I love the style of the rooms, a little less pretentious than what I stay in up in the northern parts of New Mexico (not knocking those others, I just liked the more casual southwest atmosphere, so each to their own). But for the El Paso area...no comparison. Love the quiet, the desert.....and the breakfast. I know that Marlene and George spent alot of time and effort to create their home and obviously enjoy hosting us travelers Thank you so much. Only word of caution: your kids would probably hate it. Too quiet.

This New Mexico Bed and Breakfast is off the beaten track, but is close to Mesilla Valley with its great vineyards, as well as West El Paso, TX, and a Mexico border crossing. Marlene Eichner, the owner, whips up marvelous breakfasts and great coffee! Her guests come from all over the world, and she has become a favorite of military families and contractors, as well. There are 4 bedrooms in this southwestern delight, with private patios, fountains, and gardens. It actually is in a great location to Las Cruces (an Albuquerque, NM couple stayed here during my visit to see a concert in Las Cruces, along with a English couple traveling the Southwest who went horseback riding) and El Paso, Texas. Yet, the sunrises and sunsets, along with the peace and quiet, make it seem as though you are in another world. Besides the privacy and homey feeling, breakfasts are a delight, as guests chat with each other and Marlene and share wonderful stories. The B&B is up for sale (George, Marlene's husband is in poor health) and I only hope a buyer can come forward and keep this fantastic spot going!

Room Tip: All four of the rooms are great! 2 in the main house, and 2 on the outside. Each are unique in fla...

Casa de Suenos is a lovely four room bed and breakfast just on the outskirts of El Paso. It's easy to find and handy to major arteries (I10). However, it's far enough off the beaten path to be completely quiet at night and affords great views at night of the sky and the lights of El Paso.

We stayed in the Los Tortugas and Pararito rooms and earned a 10% discount for staying five nights. The rooms were roomy and comfortable, nicely appointed and had private baths and private outdoor sitting areas. Casa de Suenos also has a huge guest living room, guest dining room and kitchen area with microwave, refrigerator and free snacks. There's also beautifully maintained grounds with great views, comfortable seating and a gas grill.

Marlene looked after us for the week with superb breakfasts (southwest egg dishes, french toast), offered advice on local dining and attractions, area history and current issues, and the like. There are scores of restaurants within 15 minutes drive ranging from home style local eateries to the standard chains to fine dining.

We recommend Casa de Suenos without reservation!

well all i can say is wow on arrival I found it hard to find so did the taxi driver but it was well worth it if i was ever coming back which i would if i was ever in el paso i would hire a car not a taxi but this b&b is away from everthing which could be classed as a double edged sword if you like being in the sticks it is great but if you like the town centre its not so good but you must hire a car the rooms are authentic mexican design with a large open space at the rear if you like walking in the desert

We were traveling to El Paso for the Sun Bowl and all of the travel sites kept directing me to the well known hotel chains but I was hoping for something with the southwest flair so I kept digging and was greatly rewarded. This place LOOKS like it belongs on a Mesa in the desert, which it does. My husband was concerned that B&Bs are not very private or quiet and we later laughed with the other couple staying there that it is so quiet it is like being in a sensory depravation chamber. The rooms are styled with good attention to detail and are roomier than the pictures on the website. In fact, we took some pictures to try and copy some features at our home but I just know they aren't going to turn out as good as what Marlene and her husband did. Good beds, ours had great powder room with separate bathroom. The private patio is adorable, but the back deck is where you are going to gravitate to and makes it different from your normal hotel room. It has plenty of room with different types of chairs, lounges etc, all keeping the southwest/western. Other reviewers talk about the view of the lights of El Paso and they are right, but put it with the silence of the desert and it really works well. The owners warn you about the gravel drive leading up to the house but it is fine, not a problem. In fact the only problem some are going to have is that the TV does not have a lot of channels and we had slow internet, but that could be due to thick walls. If the weather had been warmer we would have been out on the deck, the patio the trails around the mesa anyway, so it didn't matter much to us. Email was fine, no problem. Another thing I liked was the good communication we had with Marlene prior to our arrival. When I had questions I got good prompt replies and then she had questions for us to make sure she had what we needed. Our only regret is that we only booked one night and were obligated to stay in town for the other two nights. We should have stayed at what I ended up calling "the Pueblo", because our in town hotel was put to shame after staying at Casa de Suenos. Oh, and I almost forgot breakfast: a baked blueberry cream cheese french toast. There is no doubt we will return. Thanks Marlene for a great stay,
