I have been staying at El Pueblo for the last 25 years. It is an old place with great grounds all around. The rooms have been updated and are very large (at least in the building in the back). The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. New large flat screen TV, and a fridge in the room. It is an easy walk to the plaza. The front desk clerks are very helpful. Carmen has worked at the front desk since I have been going there, I look forward to talking to her. We go there at least once a year.

This is a very charming place, it is even exotic! (at least for Europeans like us)
The whole property is very well maintained and it looks beautiful.

The room we had was huge (probably the biggest we have had during our holiday), very pleasant, very clean and very well equipped with a very clean en-suite bathroom, 2 comfortable queen beds, a table, chairs, an armchair, a big wardrobe, a refrigerator, a micro-wave, air conditioning and even a fire place (I'm attaching a couple of pictures). The sleeping quality was very good because we didn’t hear at all the traffic from the main road or guests from other rooms.

The price includes a good continental breakfast (but no hot food) and the possibility to use their nice pool or the guest computer they have in the lobby. Let us say as well that the staff was very friendly and helpful. In line with this, Emmy deserves a special mention for all the help provided when she even lent us her own cell-phone to solve an urgent issue we had to solve in Colorado.

With reference to the location, it is definitely a good place, because it is close enough to Taos Plaza and also close enough to the road that leads to Taos Pueblo. So we really hope to visit Taos again and to stay at this fantastic place.

We stayed one night and we too were worried upon driving up. Its very southwest but on the older side. Our room was very large with 2 queen beds, a small southwest style table and 2 chairs, a large dresser, a writing table/chair and a cabinet which on it sat a flat screen tv! The beds were very comfortable although probably not new. There was a little dressing area with a closet and a table for the coffee maker before you went into the very spacious bathroom! Lots of counter space and walking space. Again, not overwhelming but charming with touches of southwest charm. A tin mirror, ceramic southwest painted light switch covers and soapdish. The pool looked very nice and clean as did the hot tub. Breakfast is the only downfall for the El Pueblo Lodge.
A very cramped area where there were an assortment of cold waffles and breads that you put into a warming machine. Several brands of cereals, muffins, doughnuts, and fruit along with coffee, milk and juice. Not a big selection but if you are a light eater, it would do fine. DONT book the El Pueblo if the free breakfast is one of your criteria as you will be disappointed. Outside of the kitchen area was a very inviting large porch with many tables and chairs, all in the southwest decor. Out on the lawn were many more wrought iron tables and chairs along with patio heaters and a firepit. A very inviting area for not only breakfast but for any time of day. All in all the El Pueblo was a very clean, comfortable and pleasant place to stay and quite close to the main part of Taos...within walking distance!

In Taos, this hotel probably deserves a 4 star rating, because I certainly didn't see any better options while driving around town. The hotel is old, but maintained fairly well. When we arrived, we had that "uh, oh" feeling, but the place is homey and it grew on us the longer we were there. That said, I did find it difficult (and annoying) to have to drag my heavy luggage over the gravel pathway that led to my room. However, other than that inconvenience, the El Pueblo is just fine. The staff was very nice and the hotel is a great place for pets.

We rented a suite for 2 days - and then extended it a third day. Here is why:
1- The front room and bedroom areas were separated by a door.
2- There was a LARGE hi-definition TV in each area.
3- They used Direct TV instead of crummy cable - which included MANY HD channels.
4- The front desk was most helpful and friendly.
5- The suite was large, with TWO separate AC units for TWO separate cooling areas.
6- The queen beds were very comfortable. No morning backaches.
7- Clean, neat, and great maid service.
8- QUIET, quiet, quiet. Never ever heard our neighbors.
9- A quiet mini-refrigerator.
10- Plenty of move around room.
11- Close to shopping - my wife liked that.

We were so very pleased!

Found this to be the best hotel I've stayed at in a long time. We were in town with other friends staying at various hotels and we definitely got more bang for our buck here. A wonderful continental breakfast, great pool area and a wonderful lodge feel. It was a within walking distance to the town plaza and had plenty of good restaurants within walking distance as well. Without a doubt, I would stay here again and would recommend anyone else to do the same.

"Close" to the Plaza, but a long walk, if it is hot. It is near the road to Taos Pueblo. The rooms are adequate or better, with nice painting on the furniture. A continental breakfast is free. Cookies are homemade and available at 3PM (yum). Some of the paths are gravel, a disadvantage if you are dragging luggage around. On the whole, nice.
